At first I thought it was a preview advert for another game until the end of it :D

I'm not holding great expectations for ME3, but I'm looking forward to it anyway just to see which cheesy solution Bioware comes up with for defeating those many Reapers.

I'm even replaying ME2 again because of it.

If Bio plays their cards right, and picks all the best things from ME1 and ME2 WITHOUT adding something to ruin everything.. We may look at a very, very solid RPG.

I hope that it turns out to be a perfect saga ending.

But we'll see ;) We've all had our share of disappointments caused by Sequels

And if not, perhaps someone will create MassEffect:Tutu in due time. ;)

Amen. I've been really pleased with the plot and characters so far (much better than the average SyFy flick), but the ending of ME2 came close to breaking my suspension of disbelief and I desperately hope the final chapter resolves it in a plausible way and doesn't become one of those "um... seriously, what!?!" train wrecks like The Matrix: Revolutions.

I'm not sure if I'd call the Mass Effect series a RPG. More like an awesomely cinematic shooter with the slight flavoring of rigidly defined role-playing.

Now, now. Even tho you don't have to collect 5 rat livers during your quests in ME, you cannot deny that these series allow you to make a choice here and there, and these choices MATTER.

Want me to list at least a dozen of "top" rpgs that are linear to boot, and even if you have a choice of doing either A or B nothing you do will even be mentioned in sequel / expansion / later in the same game, and both A and B lead to exactly the same follow up?

Even when playing BG2 : nothing you did in BG1 matters. AND almost nothing you do in SOA matters in ToB.. By almost i mean only your items, level and active romance get through.

While BG2 wasn't as linear as say.. Linearwind Dale 2 or the terrible, horrible and awful NWN 2.. the only choice that altered the world greatly was (spoiler)
Spoiler
whether you pick Bodhi or Thieves.. but in the end you kill bodhi anyway, and get the same items from Aran that you would get by killing him.
I face tougher moral choices while playing strategy games like Hearts of Iron 2..

In ME you (spoilers)
Spoiler
change the fate of whole races. Council, Rachni, Collector ship, Geth override to name a few. Not to mention many of the NPC's! Did you help to kill crime lords and convinced the female lord to "come into the light"? You'll meet her, talk to her, see what happened.. You left Alenko to die? Don't expect to see him in ME2.
While i agree that it could use a tiny bit more RPG elements, and a patch that would remove those boring mini games.. AND a complete re-working of MAKO.. A N D a slight tweak in renegade / paragon choices. it IS an RPG, and one of the best i've ever played.

Certainly better than DX, where they have cut out the option to (spoiler)
Spoiler
turn against your brother, and thus turned a potentialy awesome RPG with a twist, into a linear man vs evil company thingie.
Ahoy

I reckon Shepherd is going to fly to outer rim regions to get Revan back and save the Galaxy... Picture that!

Bioware is no longer making RPGs, just these dumbed down, bubblegum action games with an RPG sticker.

ME isn´t RPG about stats, ability scores and hardcore ruleset. It´s about ROLE-PLAYING, PCs and NPCs, story and so on, which IMO is great. Well I´m a Bioware fan so you won´t get a different opinion from me :D

But you´re right in one thing...it´s been a while since i´ve seen an hardcore RPG to dive into for months. Thank da Lord for IE games and the moding community.

I don't think Bioware has ever made a solid, traditional RPG. When they did, they were altogether run by a different team under a different banner. After they tried again, other companies did BETTER making sequels FOR them.

Even TOR isn't going to be an exception.
