Proficiencies have no effect!

Howdy.

I'm currently playing through Planescape: Torment and enjoying it immensely. I'm playing as a fourth level fighter, have no companions besides Morte, and just specialized (two points) in fists and axes. Well, here's the glitch; no matter what weapon TNO (or Morte) equips their thaco remains at 17. Doesn't matter if I'm specialized, proficient or non-proficient with the weapon. I have installed the 1.1 patch and Platters fixpack.

I've searched these forums for a solution to this problem, but can't seem to find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think, thaco calculations related to proficiencies are done during the attack, and not reflected on the character record sheet.

You can test it out by hitting Morte, seeing at which die roll you hit him and at which you miss, then change your weapon, making sure it has same thaco bonuses, but different proficiency and seeing at which roll you hit him this time.

In case you don't know, you can see dice rolls by changing the feedback options from the menu.

Indeed, PS:T only shows base THAC0.

Actually it shows true thaco value on my char sheet, atleast in some of the games i play :) But as the other mentioned, you should still have the real thaco value when attacking.
