Graphic board help

I finally picked up a copy (NWN2 Gold) a few weeks back. I waited this long as I needed to upgrade my RAM in my computer. Although I read the system requirements before I bought it, I did not realize that my graphics card was not up to snuff. There are too many cards out there for the average person to keep track of in terms of what cards are equivalent to the listed ones that will run the game. So I was caught off guard when after loading it, that I could not run it. VERY disappointing.

When I went to my local computer shop, they had several of the listed supporting graphics cards and some that came out since that were even better. Unfortunately, NONE of these cards would fit on my motherboard.

Here is what my computer presently has:
Dell Dimension 2400 (factory built)
Celeron CPU 2.4 GHz
2.39 GHz, 1.25 GB of RAM
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
Windows XP w/ SP3

Has anyone else experienced this with their Dell?
Can anyone give me some advice about which graphics card(s) will fit on my mother board AND be capable of running the game?

Thanks

Bad news.. time for a completely new system. :( (..well perhaps not the peripherals like monitor and mouse, etc..)

The machine was never designed for gaming, and it doesn't have any pci GRAPHICS slots on it (..or even agp). (..it's a "business class" workstation.)

It only has 3 regular PCI slots (..not pcie). Basically the integrated graphics will likely be as good as most PCI graphics cards, perhaps an *OLD* 8400 GS (pci version) will improve upon it.. but that's IF you can get it to work. (..and that's a big IF.) ;)

You can of course *try* to get something like an 8400GS to work, but make sure you have the ability to return it for a full refund (..and don't forget shipping costs and restocking fees).

Seriously though, it's time for a new computer (..and you can even build it yourself.)

Thanks Scottg,

Might be bad news, but better to know than keep scratching my head and wondering.

The bad thing is, everything else I have runs just fine on it, so I would be buying a computer for the sake of one game, blehh. Hadn't planned to do that for another year or two. :(

I am not a heavy duty gamer, have a few titles to unwind with now and then. But have always enjoyed D&D, so I thought this one would be up my alley.

Well, I guess the replacement schedule is going to be accelerated.

Thanks.
