Throne of Bhaal question

I have installed BG-2 + addon. When I launch the game there is a choice(two buttons) between "Shadows" and "Throne". Question: Are these two different campaigns, with two different characters etc.? Or Throne includes Shadows of Amn? What should I choose?
P.S. Is there any chance to find someone for multiplayer game?
How can I move this thread to the right sub-forum or delete it here? I am sorry.

Throne of Bhaal is the expansion for Shadows of Amn. You can either start a new game in Shadows of Amn, finish it and then continue in Throne of Bhaal or you can skip Shadows of Amn (not recommended) and start with Throne of Bhaal. Ideally the best way to start would be with Baldur's Gate 1 (Tales of the Sword Coast is nice but doesn't add to the main plot), continue with BG 2 and then proceed to Throne of Bhaal.
