Drawbacks?

I am playing an assassin type character. I've done the KOTN chain and the Mage's Guild (to gain enchanting access).
If I start on the DB chain, what effects could that have on me based on what I've done thusfar? The only thing I think I've read is that I won't be able to wear the KOTN armor...will I still be recognized by the KOTN?

i do not know if you have figured this out but...
The notn should be done last I belive. But I know its a pain to go back and do everything over.
I dnt think anything will happen. Both guilds will recognize you for your rank.
I do know that if you try to do them at the same time the notn quest will be harder. They will make you restart every time you 'sin'.
Hope that answers your question a little if any

After the Dark Brotherhood Quests I think if you go and repent at all the Wayshrines, you are cleansed and can wear the Crusaders stuff again. I suppose it might depend on just how bad your infamy has become though!

I'm not sure if visiting the wayshrines cleanses infamy or not, if it doesn't then you'll never be able to wear the Crusader gear again. Frankly I really don't understand why anyone would have a chracter do both the DB and KotN, they should by definition be mutually exclusive, a bit like playing the son of a Jewish carpenter and wanting to be the son of god and the devil at the same time!

Grins at Galraen: :mischief: Well, yeah, BUT, so long as you do KOTN last it's ok. After all, what is repentance for if you haven't been bad first?

I did once play DB, yes... and... uh... found it was... kinda seductive (
though not in a sexual way)... (get thee behind me, Satan!) I always play it now, though I still find the first act on the path difficult to do in cold blood. I always hope for one of the those 'friendly fire' accidents to get me in...

Reminds me of the lyrics to one of my all time favourite songs:
Sweet child in time you'll see the line
The line that's drawn between the good and the bad
See the blind man shooting at the world
Bullets flying taking toll
If you've been bad, Lord I bet you have
And you've been hit by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes and bow your head
And wait for the ricochet
