Well, for starters he could be an outcast of kobold community, either separated at young age from his.. e... nest or exiled cause of.. something. Unless noone has found out yet that he is lawful (kobolds would swarm him!)
Pick one of the above, write a few more sentences than You're planning to do at the moment, and you have a start.
As for some more specific ideas - D&D world is big and magical enough to make every pile of babbling into a possible story.

Lawful isn't a problem for Kobolds. Their entire society is Lawful. Check races of the Dragon.Stworca wrote:Well, for starters he could be an outcast of kobold community, either separated at young age from his.. e... nest or exiled cause of.. something. Well, not in my book. LAWFUL kobolds is one of the things that i never accepted in D&D world. These creatures may look like dragons, but their "community" is chaotic. Not chaotic in the way the drow are, but kobolds are just like orcs and goblins, "me strong, me kill leader, me become new leader" how lawful is that?
Edit : In fact, from the "basic" races i only find Dorfs lawful.

I'm just basing myself on the one-third about Kobolds of the book Wizards of the Coast has published. The description in there of Kobolds is pretty lawful, with the set hierarchy, predefined roles and collectivism.Stworca wrote:Well, not in my book. In no way do I want to belittle your world (or much worse, start an alignment thread), but when someone asks for advice on a D&D board without specification, I go by the official published material.
Fair enough, good sir

Keep in mind that this is stereotyping. In many cases, this is right but remember, D&D has one key difference compared to LoTR. All races are considered equally viable characters in any class and any alignment. A lawful good orc paladin is totally possible. A kobold knight is the same.Stworca wrote:Well, not in my book. Just keep in mind for characters, not all dwarfs are gruff with beards, not all elves are bow using angsty emos, and not all orcs are psychopathic bastards with weapons made in volcanoes.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.

I believe there is a slight missunderstanding kind sir. When i was talking about Kobolds beign chaotic in D&D (which Gawain proved me wrong) and dorfs beign lawful i was refering to the majority of the races, not every single kobold / dorf walking on the planes. In no way did i discourage Shaggy to play a lawful kobold knight! I played quite a few 'not-too-common' characters myself in D&D world.
I have no idea where did the LoTR reference come from
In any case, excuse me for the missunderstanding that i've caused.
Kind regards!

The LoTR reference came in because D&D is entirely based off Tolkein's novels. Gygax even got sued due to having too many similarities (ents and balrogs had to be renamed Treeants and Balors).
