Definitaly the Longbow +2 of archery (correct if wrong on name). In fact, any missile weapon killed in that game!

The Eaglebow is the best weapon in bg1.
I played through bg2 with all but one being archers and that rocked.

@bruce lee:
why eagle bow instead of longbow of marksmanship?
i'm thinking of trying a party with 3 rangers using longbows and composite longbows a thief a mage and a druid also using different missile weapons, most enemies will probably die before they even have a chance to hit me

Eagle Bow
Spider Bane
Long Sword +2 (the one you get from ...err, this can be a spoiler... well, outside of Nashkel Mine)
War Hammer +2 (with electrical damage) for cleric

The best weapon is like Scimitar Defender +5?
+3 Thac0
+3 Damage
+2 AC
Counts as +5 enchantment.....
That weapon is just the best I would say.

@kael, your not supposed to legitemately get that weapon - just like i never did
Best weapon, definately the ones that Minerva mentioned the Long Sword+2 and the War Hammer+2
BTW the long sword+2 is useful in BG2 for disrupting spell casters with its icy touch

I got the Defender +5 when I pickpocketed Drizzt. I never even knew of it's existence, so that was rather a pleasant surprise. I only installed the patches and TotSC a long time after that, so I would say I got it "legitimately".
Besides that, one of the best weapons in the game is the Dagger of Venom. That thing deals 20 poison damage over 20 seconds. Disrupts spells and generally kills just about everything.

I like the necklace of missiles

I rarely used items like the necklace of missiles.. I tended to use conventional methods.

i played a fmt a while back, with mastery in daggers. the dagger of venom is a crippling, disabling and truly wonderful weapon. a third of the victims hitpoints in one strike! (delayed, but still)

Scimitar Defender +5 is the best, you just have to trick Drizzt into "dropping" it.
Followed by the next 4....

never used the dagger of venom, just didn't fit any of my party members
how about throwing axe +2, heavy crossbow of accuracy or short sword of backstabbing?

I prefer missile weapons, thus I almost have that. Minsc is the only one in my party that doesn't use a missile weapon. She's currently got a Morning Star +2(?), I think. My main char uses a heavy crossbow, composite longbow, and a Two-Handed Sword(sometimes, I find it better to go melee). I've got two thieves with short bows(one is a Short Bow +1), a cleric with a Sling +1, and a Mage that throws darts when she isn't using magic. My main strategy is generally to lay down some cover fire as Minsc charges into battle. I'm not sure which weapon I would consider the best, though.

The "Worlds Egde" 2-hand sword +3 from ToSC, my fav. weapon in BG1/ToSC.

The Sling +3 from Tales of the Sword Coast was pretty decent as well. BG1 slings add your Strength modifier, are one-handed and use the quiver to store ammo. No other weapon has all these advantages, except perhaps the Boomerang Axe.
