torment re-release

Does anyone have experience with ny mods/tweaks/fixes with the new version?

None of my old saves work (game keeps shutting down) though I'm experimenting now to determine exactly which mods i had installed (it's been a while since I last played).

Also, I remember seeing a thread about the 'perfect' setup for torment but i can't find it now. Any suggestions as I may be starting over (completed up to end of act 4). Yes it's my first playthrough, sad but true.

Can't help, I'm afraid, but I just wanted to thank you for posting this thread - I had no idea it had been re-released in a version playble on XP - I have just ordered it from Amazon for £11.13 (£12.82 with postage and packing) so a pretty decent price, too. :D Thanks a lot! :D

If it indeed works directly on Vista/W7 it might be interesting. I found on the web the following:
'To answer my own question, yes, it does work with the widescreen mod.

It appears to be the unpatched (1.0) 4 CD version stuck on a DVD. Currently a tenner at Amazon.

Works fine in Windows 7, although the current release of the Nvidia drivers doesn't correctly implement sprite bliting and mirroring, so the software options must be chosen.'

Yeah, it's been working fine for me (windows 7) except that, as i said, none of my saves. So I installed the qwinn mods and just one cheat mod (just in case of screwups half way thru the game.

It's a little disappointing that the re release was so lazy, though. 1.0, though it contains the readme for the patch, weird. Heck, the disk still has folders for the multiple CDs. Manual on the disk (but it doesn't include the colour cover). Fortunately I still have two old ones. Still, at least it's here, so I'm not complaining. Much.

Not available in Canada for some reason. Amazon.ca doesn't have it, and Amazon uk and com refuse to ship it here. Fortunately I have a sister who loves her brother dearly and sent me a copy for Christmas.

I purchased the re-release, loaded it, played the start of it, saved, and went away to do other things.
Later, my grandson played Oblivion for a while, then Oblivion froze. Thought nothing of it, really, because it's done it before on occasion.
Restarted the computer.
Couldn't use the mouse. It worked ok, cursor moved fine, but nothing responded to left or right click. Even for desktop icons I had to use the keyboard arrow keys, and when a screen from an icon came up, I could only close it with Alt and F4. I had to navigate everything with arrow keys and Enter.
Then I couldn't get the Start button to work, so I couldn't close the computer down except by pressing the start button on the box. And I couldn't get to the Planescape uninstall tab because it is on my start-up and I couldn't access my start up...
Anyway, after a lot of messing about - I am NOT a techi! - I finally managed to remove Planescape.
Having done so, I found my start-up and desktop icons screwded up and I still didn't have full use of the mouse.
Ok. I fixed it. Dunno how, but I did. More by luck than judgement.

I'm telling you only so people can be aware they may have problems as a result of installing the Planescape re-release.

I think it's very unlikely that planescape game was the cause here. Did your grandson only play Oblivion or might he have done stuff on the internet? Sounds more like it could be malware, try scanning with Malware Bytes and whatever antivirus you use.
