How do I get the 1.2 patch update for Oblivion without having xbox live, it seems to be preventing me from being able to play shivering isles

Once you've installed SI, it will automatically patch Oblivion.

What you will lack are the user-made patches that remove tons of other problems, plus all the player modifications that add content...but that's the choice one makes in getting the Xbox version.

I'd also suggest that if you like the game a lot, consider getting the PC version at some future date. There are literally 5000+ mods out there, and some of them include huge, very well done quest systems, new guilds, and many new dungeons: another 80+ hours of content. Plus a lot else.

So, basically i have everything right, the only thing wrong is the expansion pack screwed up and now i can't play shivering isles?

No, I didn't say anything about that. If you can't play, it might be an installation issue. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling.

Then your best bet is going to Bethesda Softworks website, and contacting their Tech Support team. Who are pretty good, from everything I've heard.

The loading Extra content screen works fine, but when I try to play knights of the nine, or shivering isle I wait 24 hrs, go to the location, ask about rumors, yet nothing happens. It's as if the game is not resistering that I installed the expansion pack
