Can Tycho use the Plasma Rifle effectively?

The reason I ask is I now have 2 Plasma Rifles (one has been upgraded), 1 plasma pistol (My character has equipped).

My thoughts were to give the Plasma Rifle to Tycho, the 223 pistol to Ian and the 44 mag pistol to Katja (who I just picked up. I was going to equipment the other Plasma Rifle on my character as a 2nd weapon.

Any thoughts?

After a slow start learning the controls, I'm now really loving this game. Can't wait to stat FO2

P.S. If Tycho can use the Plasma, where can I get a 2nd Micro Fusion Cell? I have one that says it has 500 charges.

I don't think Ian is any good with Energy Weapons. I'd say that you yourself should wield the Turbo Plasma Rifle. I'd go for Ian with the .223, Tycho with the Sniper and Katja with a 14mm or maybe a Combat Shotgun. (If you've got a Sniper to spare, give her that, though.)
You actually have 500 Microfusion Cells, not one with 500 charges. If you trade those with someone, you can select how many you would like to trade. Keep in min that you trade them in increments of 50, I believe. So if you trade 5, you're actually trading 250. It works just like other ammo.

Thanks, now I've got another problem.

When I try to give Katja the 14mm Pistol and the ammo, it won't let me. It says there is no room for those items. The only thing she's carrying is 1 Stimpack and 6 throwing knives.
Any suggestions?

when you get a plasma rifle and a power armor your character should already be so powerful that the NPCs are just in the way
