Retraining NPC's

Hello
Is there a way (mods, cheats, whatever) to change the class and skillpoints of NPCs that join you on a higher level?
Without such a thing, you're rather limited in your party setup...

If you have the expansion pack, then you can retrain the skills. Otherwise, you're probably stuck looking for a trainer of some sort.

Try the
Hotfix Mod (for v2.2), there is an NPC that is able to release the skillpoints form a skill so you can re-invest them anywhere else.
For your party setup, simplest is probably if you just hire an actor with a primary class you like.
Also remind that even as veteran/elite party you can return anytime on the mercenary map and hire the actors there with their 'origin' specialization (insofar it changes).

But that's the point: I want to have my "final" party ASAP. Re-investing skillpoints isn't enough, I want to change classes as well.
For example: Currently I'm playing an Archer, with Lothar as a Shieldbearer. When I get three members, Taar will be a Nature Mage. For my fourth member, I was thinking of using Deru or Vix as a Combat Mage, but by this time, they are pretty far in the Archerclass. I just wanted to change that. Oh well, thanks for the suggestions.

It seems you will encounter soon Finala in act 2, it's very probable she can help you to get finally a desired combat mage.
In meantime you could browse around here or in other DS2 related forums. I'm sure you will find many threads bothering about 'how to keep a young (cursing) combat mage alive'.

If you want help with your party here is the ultimate combination:
Name - Race, Class, weapon of choice
You - Human, Combat Mage, fire mastery
Deru - Dryad, Ranger, bow
Lothar - Half-Giant, Melee, shield and any melee weapon
Taar - Dryad, Nature Mage, ice mastery
Vix - Human, Ranger, thrown weapon (only when you can have 5 party members)
Eva - Human, Melee, two swords (only when you can have 6 party members)

If you want characters to be different than their default class, then you need to pick them up right away. Lothar starts out as a fighter and Taar starts out as a nature mage, so you can wait on those two. If you want Deru to be a combat mage, then you should immediately grab her so you can control her development.

Yes, do not use curses!
Oh, well, I think Act I is do-able without a combat mage. Hell, my first time through was without a combat mage.
Thanks for the replies!
