Nature Caster Gear

Hi I am building a nature caster probably ?illusionist?

I am having trouble figuring out how to support this build with stats and equipment as they don't seem to be that important. At least its not obvious to me what I want. For example my warden loved str %pierce resists and I knew what I needed but not this guy.

The funny thing about this relative to my melee builds is that I don't know what I am looking for in terms of equipment. So far wolves with HoO, maul, survival are my source of dps. Yes, I have a staff so intelligence can help dps but I'm attracted to going illusionist so eventually I will probably have a poison staff!

My plan is to build up a straight wanderer then skill out and fill the rogue mastery points to get support skills in 1 shot (leaving still some in key nature skills). It seems like I just need enough intelligence for caster gear and then the rest can go anywhere. This is because I don't have big elemental support from my skills. I don't need str, dex unless to wear extra gear...I don't need energy except for active energy costs, summoning, healing, plague, knives, traps. I wish a mystic could reshuffle my attributes too!

It seems all about the wolves for now so what properties am I looking for in equipment and what stats as a ranged staff attacker do I want?
