Intelligence and +healing

Is there any relationship between those two?
Description of Int says +Elemental _damage_ and mana regen.
Feels like a waste to put attriubute pts in Int for the sole purpose of wearing more caster-based armor (no elemental damage in Nature tree that's worth massing int for, if Im not mistaken.)
