Well, details are scarce at the moment so can't tell if development's on the way. As far as I know, Obsidian Entertainment is in discussion with Lucasarts about KOTOR 3 as mentioned somewhere on this site at March 31 this year (looks authentic, so far).

Here's the link:

it doesnt prove that they WILL make though, it says that want to though. Hopefully they will. otherwise that would suck. They should just create the damn KOTOR games like the Final Fantasy games, like all the way to 10 or something. lol

Well, we'll just have to wait and see if there's any breakthrough with the negotiations between Obsidian and Lucasarts (seems pretty quiet so far).

Oh man, please, not that many sequels. I prefer 3 if its on the same setting and story. By the way, the Final Fantasy series are based on different settings and stories. That's why they can make a heck load of Final Fantasy games.

i would like more than 3

how does 4 or 5 sound. unless 3 is really, really, really, really long; there is no way the game can answer all the questions that both k1&2 left us with.

I think its possible to fill up the gaps in KOTOR 2 in the next KOTOR. The gap between KOTOR 1&2 could be explained better in the next KOTOR via flashbacks or some CG scenes. That way, at least the game will not be that long.

In my opinion, since KOTOR series seem to revolve around the same story, I most probably prefer 3 sequels including the last as the final chapter of the series.

fragland.net says:

Gamedreams has posted word that another installment of Knights of the Old Republic (in fact, KOTOR 3) is already in development

George and crew are most pleased with the initial performance of KOTOR, so pleased in fact that KOTOR 3 is well into development! This time however expect everything to be new and improved! An all new next-gen engine is being prepped as is a modified battle system that will place a heavier emphasis on the lightsaber. There are even whispers that the game may be shown in some form at E3 THIS year, though I’d expect it to be far from completion, perhaps nothing but a video!

We'll learn more about this at E3 I guess but for now take this with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed yet.

The Rumor/News thread was closed since a great deal of time has gone by with nothing new/relevant to add or discuss. This is not going to turn into an extension of that. Thread closed.
