Hi:

In order to get a quest, I need Amren who is supposed to be located in the Aman'lu Inn (Tavern). The problem is .... he is not there. I've looked the site over, a dozen times and he is nowhere to be found now that I need him.

I can't remember if I talked to him earlier and rejected his joining at the time. That may be the problem, but if that is the case, where is he now? I've checked out the list of charactors stored with the Innkeeper (Odelina) and he is not listed as one of the charactors.

The only person at the bar is the barkeeper, Drudwyn. There is nobody else in the bar area near him.

Can anyone help please?

So let me get this right, you are already in Aman'lu, and Amren is not in the Inn?

Well he wouldn't be in the inventory unless you hired him, and then returned him to the Inn so no need to look there. Unfortunately right now it sounds as if yet another NPC corruption issue - if you already talked to him, and skipped the dialogue when it came to hiring him, it is more than possible. If this is the case, there is no solution as far as I know you'll have to go on without him, and hope it ends there.

First suggestion - try the back up saved files, maybe they will work.

Well, I think you have probably hit the nail on the head. That is very likely the cause of my problem. I guess I have to let this and any related quest just go by. Live and learn ....
