How I want to KotOR III look like

I have read most of the posts here and I haven't seen anyone concerning the look of the new KotOR. I'm not thinking about the exact quality of in - game graphic, but what style it will be. Personally, I'm tired of the old engine look, it's horribly plastic. Dark and dreadful places looked like haunted mansion's from a cheap theme park, they wasn't scary at all. I want to see something diffrent - if I am on a God forsaken Sith planet, which was abandoned about 1000 years ago, then I want to see THE DIRT AND THE FILTH of such place. Sith - inhabited places like Malachor V or Korriban, constantly consumed and corrupted by the Dark Side should be dark and twisted, they should be made so scary, that even setting foot on such place should be considered a brave thing to do.
On the other hand, places embreced by the Light Side should make player feel relaxed and safe, I was not satisfied with Dantooine or Telos. They were narrow and empty, there was no sign of life on them, except of the few people, animated flying something in background and few dangerous animals, scattered here and there. I think that in the new game, level designer's should concetrate on bringing life to the world of Star Wars where it should be (grassy and sunny planet's) and stripping it off from the dead world's like Malachor V (by the way, I alway's wondered where the Storm Beast's there came from, cause there is nothing to eat or drink there).
Second - the appearence of the player. Although in case you chose the dark path in KotOR II, you're character's looks changed, there was no such thing for the other side. I mean, if I am good as hell ;) then it should be visible. For example, a little glow in the eyes or some additional effects while using Light Side powers, like when you use Knight Speed you flash with bright light, feeling me?
For those who want to respond "yeah, it would be cool, but I prefer if they would concetrate on gameplay instead of graphic" here is my opinion: IF YOU GOT LOAD'S OF CASH RESERVED FOR THIS ONE GAME, IS IT REALLY SO HARD TO BIND THESE 2 THINGS?
So, what do you think about it?

personally i quite like the look of the games. i am not the kind of person that particularly cares about having extremely realistic games or graphics. if its fun to play and addictive then i'm happy. i'm not saying that if they did include everything you say then it would be a bad thing cos it definately would not be a negative thing, but i have a concern that if they try to do too much then it could cause all sorts of other problems, like the game slowing down or crashing etc. as it tries to do too much at once. plus if the graphics are too good then it would make it near impossible to run on anything but a state of the art pc, which would stop a lot of people from being able to play it.

Well, I'm not sure if you understood me. If what I heard about the new game engine (Unreal 3 I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) is real, then the quality of the graphic will be undoublty wery good, but it all go around HOW they will use this engine. I don't think they can make the game anymore unstable and unoptimized then it was before, for example - Dantooine on KotOR II. Those of us who got a bit worse hardware then other know what happened there - I mean, the game choked horribly on opened spaces. So, resuming the main topic - I don't need the new KotOR to have some unbelievable effect's like Shader 4.0 or God-know's-what-else stuff. I want the new location's to be made with a little more idea, because all of them in the previous part's were just a few bigger or less room's connected with too long corridor's. I want something else! Come on! Aren't you all tired of identicall looking location's?

that makes sense. with kotor2 it wasn't dantooine i had problems with, but i did have similar problems in the sith temple on dxun and it got really annoying/frustrating. i agree that they could put more effort into the feel of the places and make places look a bit more unique. it would greatly improve the general look of the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't your system have just as much trouble with the new supped up game engine as it did with the old when it came to displaying the graphics on your computer? I'm not much of a technology wiz, so I could be wrong, but I have a pretty high quality system and I don't really have trouble with any of the planets (at least not that I can remember, its been a while since I last played).

Back on topic though, I certainly won't complain about any upgrades in the graphics department. I don't know if I need to see a lightside "Fable effect" (halo and butterflies around the head, slightly glowing blue eyes), but I would like to see a DS character get those cool red and yellow eyes like Anakin had in Revenge of the Sith (and Maul had in PM).

I also agree that there needs to be a more noticable ecosystem on living, green planets, and a feeling of decay and filth on the dead ones. Also a bit more open space would be nice, I don't need to land on a planet basically looking for a needle in a haystack, and have a clearly marked trail taking me right to it. I don't need to be able to explore the whole planet, but my objective doesn't need a neon sign pointing to it. Wide open spaces, with grass and trees, and bubbling brooks that I can walk through, over, and around would be nice; or on the flip side, crumbling walls for me to scramble over, smoking craters to walk around, and whatever else would be nice for the DS planets.

The Sith/Jedi bases should make some sort of sense. I mean, where are all of these people sleeping (on Dantooine in particular), eating, etc? Those rooms don't actually have to have much in them, except for maybe someone telling you to leave, but they should, at least, exist.

Breaking down doors, smashing open containers should involve something more interesting than your character swinging at it and then it opening the way it usually would. Lightsabers out to be leaving scorch marks, vibroblades should leave hack marks, that sort of thing. Might be nice to see noticible damage on enemies that get killed too, though I don't know how willing they'd be to do something like that. Starwars violence tends to be pretty tame by today's standards.

Maybe now that the new game systems are coming out, the makers of the next Kotor will be able to make a game that really is a cinimatic experience.

I like the graphics the way the are it doesn't bother me but you wouldn't see me complaining if they made the graphics better.

Every planet should be improved like you guys said but still be unique. It shouldn't depend on if the planet is influenced by DS or LS they should be designed on how the planet should be. For example Tatooine should be full of sunshine and some sort of plant life but it is a desert and most of it's population is slaves so it should be depressing.(i dont know how else to put then depressing)

The battle scars on fallen enemies and broken objects is a great idea. Lightsabers leaving burn marks, swords leaving scratches, etc... It would give the game more of a realistic feel.

Lightsabers and other illuminated items have a better effect in dark areas. Imagine a good lightsaber duel in a almost pitch black area wouldn't that look awsome.

But as for the appearance changing depending on the alignment that should be taken out of the game altogether. I picked the way he/she looked in the beginning because i like it. When it changed on me i thought that was gay.

It looked awesome in Return of the Jedi, I'm sure it would be no different now. I agree that the lightsaber out to illuminate things a bit, darkened tunnels would look sweet if they were light up by a blue, green, or red lightsaber.

Some people seem to really like it, others don't. I think I've read somewhere that drawing heavily on the dark side of the Force (or in the case of the games, earning dark side points) takes a physical toll on a person's body, but that doesn't really seem to be supported by the newer movies, so I might be wrong. Regardless, it doesn't bug me because I'm a light side kind of guy.

I'm a neutral player because of that, when i first played the game i ended up being DS and i seen the change it made so for a long time i played as neutral because i didn't want to see what happened to LS but i eventually tried it and found out that nothing happens, by that time i had already liked being neutral.

I understand the whole DS appearance change but i still don't like it i hope they make it optional in the next game.

Perhaps they could give the PC the "sith eyes" that Darth Maul and Anakin get in the PT... those were some cool eyes. I'd consider being darkside just for that.

The eye clour changing i could live with but when he/she changes skin colour and they're skin starts to changed (not the colour, the texture) i can't stand it. I don't want to play DS, i'll play it once but that is it.

I agree, the whole skin changing thing is way too overplayed. Some subtle changes wouldn't be too bad, but to have you looking like Palpatine after just a few months of DS living is kind of ridiculous. The eyes changing seems to be supported by canon, but the overall physical appearance of the character shouldn't change too drastically. For whatever reason they decided to do the whole Fable-thing and it doesn't work all that great IMHO...

maybe a kotOR MMORPG, not as kotorIII, but just a seperate game MMORPG in the kotOR universe.

There is an thread conserning making KotOR MMORPG, so I suggest you to discuss this there.

but this thread is about how you want kotOR III to look like, and i want it to look like an MMORPG.
but this thread is about how you want kotOR III to look like, and i want it to look like an MMORPG.
I believe Fierce meant this was a thread about the appearance of Kotor III, where as MMORPG would be more of a genre... you can't make something look like an MMORPG, it either is one or it isn't.

Sort of like someone asking, "should the walls be red or blue?" and the response being "I think we should move to a different house."

Hmm, now that I think about it, you could make a game look like an MMORPG. You'd just have to have about a thousand random people who all look suspiciously like you, running around doing basically the same thing you're doing, and trying to kill monsters that you were already fighting...

Exactly. Have you even read what we were discussing here?? If you would, than you would know what's it about.

that was kind of meant cynical.

and fierce, the title of this topic is called 'How I want kotOR III to look like'
And i want kotOR III to be an MMORPG. so i can say that in this topic, unless I need a glasses.

The point is, you can't make game LOOK like an MMORPG, at least in the graphic way. You can make gameplay like in the MMORPG one's, but you don't have diffrent graphics for them. I understand why you put it that way, but if you want to discuss making it MMORPG then there is an diffrent thread concerning it.
