I have spent hours getting my character up to level 21.
I was running 2.1 but this morning when I turned on my computer my saved character + the continue button where missing. I went to the single player option but it would only allow me to set up a new character from the beginning.
I looked at my saved games but they were still there so I tried the following:
1. patched to 2.2 - no effect:
2. uninstalled + reinstalled - still no effect:
HELP - DS2 is simply not reading my saved games anymore:

mad:
any ideas?

run 'chkdsk /f' on your system and try again. I answered a tech question for a friend who thought he lost his files. Remember, microsoft game...microsoft o/s...Good Luck.

Oh I forgot...if you have more than one person loging into you pc make sure you are logged in using the same login when you first created your character...Good Luck

Do you might typing that in start|run or do I need to load MSDOS? What will happen?

no joy
I went to a command prompt - scheduled chkdsk /f next time I rebooted but still can't get my save game.
I did this from C:\
Any other suggestions - anyone?
Oct 9 - Tried loading a prior Saved game in case there was a corruption on this saved game.
Still no joy. :-(
I am low on system resources - could this be the issue?

Not sure, but it is possible that low resources could be your problem. Try this...Start DS2, go to options and set the game priority to 'on', close the game and start over...Let me know if this works. By the way, what kind of system do you have, including o/s?

Thanks - I'll try that as soon as I can - might not get on the computer before Wednesday though.
It is a 'sick' Anthlon 1800 XP (I can only get it running at 1150 though
It is Windows XP HE with 256 Ram
I have another 256 Ram stick but the KSA51S (I think) motherboard won't let me use them in tandom.
I'll hopefully get a new pc in a month or so as this one is driving me nuts.
I'll keep you posted.

Note to nhoj68
That sounded a really good idea - sadly didn't work

I remember reading that the game developer now uses an updater when you switch to multi-player. I remember the first DS updating the game that way. Have you tried connecting to multi-player? Try it and see what happens.

It's worth a shot - Guess I better upgrade to 2.2 first then.

wow
I didn't upgrade tp 2.2 yet.
I went into multiplayer mode LAN and imported my party. I went into the game then saved it + exited. The screen went back to the main screen and my continue game was back - though with a different Avatar (Drew).
Thanks for all your time and suggestions nhoj68
you've been great.

Did you connect to the internet or game spy to update your game?
