Past Lives

Inspired by a tidbit of info in Loner72's ID, I thought I'd post this.

Anyone believe in past lives/reincarnation?

I don't discount it but I have no experiences myself. The closest I ever get is a feeling I've been here before. Something tells me I got blown to smithereens in some stupid war. Now I'm back :D

Past girlfriends claim to recollect me from previous lives and demand that I meet them in the next. Shame they don't want to stick around in this one  :D . LOL

What's even stranger is, my mother claims to have had a vision of dragging my blood stained body through the snow. Wonder what life that was (is?) in? Pretty spooky. :(

Utter rubbish :D
The reason you have that feeling is because you *have* been caught in the ladies bathroom before, but the beatings they give when they catch you must affect your memory.

Memories are electro-chemical, explain how they can be transplanted, let alone transcend death...

I'll electro-chemical your @$$ Waverly! :D

Actually it is more than just a bio-chemical deja vu thing. Gruntboy has had a very tedious life, filled by... err, with pantless marines, goats, weasels, high heels and cheap make-up.

That should lead us to a determinitstic psychosis, without a basis of hypo-decapitalization he feels in certain moments - as a matter of fact, I don't know what the heck I am talking about.

But I am with Gruntboy, let's electro-something Wankerly's arse :D :D :D

Don't belive in past lives - and unless I have clear memories about it I don't think I could ever be convinced.

What strikes me most about all these stories about past lives is that it is remarkable how many people have been somebody important in a previous lives :D

I think most of it is a kind of escape from everyday life and problems.
"I might have it hard now - but I've had good past lives - bla bla bla" :D

Xandax is right, it's always Cleopatra or Nepoleon, no one ever remembers being Ubik the out house cleaner in their past life.

My mother claims that even at an age when I should have been too young to concieve of such things, I had nightmares of being torn apart by wild animals

That goes double for angels, demons, heaven, hell, souls, vampires. I'd have to see any of these for myself. Until then I think the supernatural is an entertaining ideal gleaned from our collective human symbols.(cheap reference to Jung)Reincarnation is a relic from one of our more interesting stabs at understanding human nature by telling stories.

Can't say. I've no personal proof, and most of the stories I've heard supposedly proving this were obviously self-delusional. (Come on, just how many damn Ancient Egyptians were there, after all?) It's now entered the realm of self-improvement fads, alongside copper headbands, interplanetary colonization, psychic hotlines and other things that should be sprayed with Lysol regularly.

I'm not discounting it, however. There *is* one documented case of a three-year-old Hindu child who very clearly recalled a recent past life as a Buddhist nun, even to the point of going back to the convent and detailing all her experiences with its current residents. (She'd died about a decade, earlier.) The whole thing has never been proven away. (Incidentally, the child joined the same nunnery when she entered her teens.)

I think there is a possibility of reicarnation, but because of my choice of belief, I don't think it plausable. If people want to believe in it, it's no skin of my back. If I were to believe though, I would have to say I'd probably be some sort of Court Jester. You know the ones who aren't very successful, and get beaten around a lot.

On the topic of reincarnation/spooky coincidences etc, her's mine. On Jan 29th this year my Grandma passed away. Of course everyone was sad. Then, about two months later my brother announced he was pregnant. I mean his girlfriend of course. Anyway it seems the babe was conceived on the very day my grandma passed away, give or take a day. When is the babe due? On or about my grandmas would be birthday.Spooky huh?

@Fable-san..Funny you mention that. I went back for trip about 2 years ago and everything was fine. Then, when I went back this time my brother looked like a Donut Company's dream. I just thought he was fat.

@Sleep- you mentioned "Sleeps brain"; there is interesting/spooky idea. I wonder if there is a Countdown Conundrum in that.
30 seconds to make as many words from "Sleeps Brain". Go!
