A.abbreviations: what are the commonly used abbreviations? I am pretty sure about BTW(by the way) IMO(in my opinion) IMHO(in my Humble opinion) but what about LMAO or... well I can't think of any more (if you could post them... ;) )
B. links: if I want to post a link to another thread or another site, how do I do it so I have just the name of the site, like just gamebanshee instead of www.gamebanshee.com or the name of a thread like just "John williams" instead of http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=9&t=001748 (a bit of self promotion there)?

Abbreviations:

LMAO = laugh my @ss off
ROFL = rolling on the floor, laughing (or something like that)
AFAIK = as far as I know (I don't like this, personally)
IIRC = If I recall correctly

SYM = ...you know where you are, don't you? It's this forum!! :D

You should check pre-spammers gude by Brink. ;)

Please wait someone to explain how to use link. I know how, but can't explain it well... :o
