Lol, poor fella got his head ripped off three or four times. Also i thought the optional part of having a pet was so that the pet could occupy the bear by becoming a quick snack, and thus provide you with time to escape. Though i like his variant better

More likely to get hit by lightning than mauled by a bear? I'm not sure I believe that...

@ Loki,
lmao!

You know... that solution could probably only come from somebody who plays video games..
Player character: Oh crap!
Party Member: what's that?
Player Character: There's a great big hungry bear ahead and it thinks we are the "Special du Jour."
Party Member: No problem... I'll just summon in some giant spiders. They can distract it while we run for safety.
@Sain,
I wouldn't worry... I have the sneaking suspicion this isn't supposed to be serious...

But all of the information seemed to be so well researched, especially with all the decapitations.

They're just trying to use blood and gore to lure you in... standard tactic that...

QFT. Everyone knows if you see a bear charging at you, your best option is to scream like a little girl. If the pitch is loud enough the bear will cower in fear at the unearthly wailing. Common knowledge.

On a more serious note, my brother worked bush country for a few years. He may not be alive were it not for the fact that his dog had run a bear off.
Bears are pretty conservative, if there is a chance that large charging dog can hurt them they will move on...sometimes.
by the way the dog came out unharmed and died of old age, the loss hit my brother pretty hard.

Alright! A horrible falsetto Jim Gillette-style will scare even the most rabid bear, then!
