Torment - lost equipment *minor spoiler*

When I went into the lower ward for the first time and morte was taken away... I went and did the quest to get him back but after I got him back I had some equipment on him, like a good weapon for him but after I finished the quest and got morte back his equipment was gone. Is it impossible to get this stuff back? Or is there a way to get it back?

I had that happen once. Did you check on the ground after he was taken away? His inventory should be sitting right where he was kidnapped.

A bit of irony, I had him carry all the skulls I had collected.
Luckily I found them at the location he was kidnapped.
