Just got the game and am raring to go.. But before i start.. just want to confirm one thing, should i play only morrowind or must i install the expansions for the best playing experience? wanna enjoy this huge game as much as possible..

hey guys.. anyone wanna help me out here?? just wanna know if playing the expansions one at a time is better or should i install all of them and play it at a time ? which is more rewarding.. simple enough to answer i guess

Hi, Ajax12. Welcome to the forums. Just a word of advice: please don't bump posts. It's not considered polite, here, and it serves no purpose, because your post is still high on the first page. That only works well in forums where posts scroll off the first page very quickly.

You just hit the Morrowind forum at a slow moment.

As for your question, I think the expansions strongly add to the experience. They bring new quests, new challenges, improvements to the horrible in-game journal, better skill balancing (finally, good medium armor!), vampire clans, werewolves, more lore, etc. Definitely worth it.

But I'd also add a few words for mods--modifications. If you're running on a PC and have at least 2 GB RAM, I'd strongly suggest investigating what mods can offer. Morrowind has more than 8000 to date, and many add player houses, NPC schedules, quest systems, new spells, ease-of-use features, improvements to enemy AI, better graphics, easier gameplay, harder gameplay, etc. Try TES Nexus as an excellent mod source, complete with ratings and comments; and check out our own thread of recommendations on mods, as well.

EDIT: Oh, and feel free to ask questions. If you do decide to go with mods, we can help with that--or anything else. Just be patient in expecting answers.

im really sorry about that. i had no idea that i was bumping the post. atleast that was not my intention at all.. just wanted an answer and guess i got a little impatient. sorry again.

8000 mods?!! i don even know where to start!!
and when i have installed the expansions tribunal first and then bloodmoon ,which one do i click on to play all 3(original + additions given by the expansions) of the game in one shot...

Yeah. Be sure you install them in the proper order:

Morrowind
Tribunal
Bloodmoon

Then go to the company's website and download the latest Bloodmoon patch, and install that. You only need that patch, because Tribunal patches Morrowind, and Bloodmoon patches Tribunal.

There are other patches to install after that, made by the Morrowind community:

The Morrowind Patch Project
The Morrowind Code Patch

The first fixes literally thousands of additional bugs that Bethsoft missed. The second fixes still more bugs, and perhaps most importantly, fixes issues that create saved game corruption if you add mods while a game is in progress. Both are perfectly safe, and must haves, in my opinion.

Currently running 170+ mods myself, and having no problems (knock on wood).

Yes. You can freely move between the main game and the expansions without any problem at all.
Bear in mind though... you won't be able to go into Tribunal immediately... Without providing you with spoilers, let's just say a bunch of sleeps need to pass.

Also, if you plan on running a lot of mods, I strongly recommend that you learn to use [url="http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Mash.html#MasterListUpdating"]Wrye Mash[/url]. It can be quite complex to both install and use, but it helps to keep all of those mods working smoothly together.

thanks for the link i installed the game.. got the goty edition btw where when i click the morrowind icon i play all there at once. so the game i am playing has the in-game journal of tribunal and bloodmoon right? installed the mods.. worked like a charm !

What does your menu screen look like (the one that appears when you hit play)? If you installed the game and expansions in the correct order (Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon), it should look have a grey background with a white bear on one side and a horned creature on the other.

Which mods have you installed, and how did you install them? This can be a bit tricky if you aren't familiar with the process.

yes.. that is the menu screen i am getting. so its all 3 in one right?
And about the mods.. i installed the ones mentioned by fable. Frankly speaking, the txt files in the mods were pretty clear on how to proceed. i even got the 'hall of bugs and fixes' which i guess should be the product of one of the mods.
SO i did ok so far? And any class and any race i take should not matter too much right?

For a first play through it doesn't matter that much.

When you've been playing as long as all the folks here you get to the point where you construct your own classes but for now you've picked quite a strong combination.
