The Luck attribute.

Post by Benk »

This may seem like a stupid question but I honestly can't see a use for the Luck attribute. Does it do anything, and is there any point in fortifying it, or using your level up points to improve it? It says it affects everything you do in a small way, but I'm just wondering how.

I also have another question, posted here simply because I thought it pointless to start a whole new thread when I've only just started this one.
I am playing the original, expansion-less version of morrowind, on the Xbox. I was wondering if there was a set number of saves you can safely make before your game starts to lag, and, ultimately, crash after even a few steps, or doing something as simple as zooming out on the map. It is really annoying as it means that I can't fully complete the game if I happen to save a lot during the game.

Answer to question one.

Luck affects the equations that make the game work. The numbers are more likely to go in your favour. It is by far one of the best attributes. The change isn't always apparent but it's there. You're more likely to find better things in chests, hit enemies, cast spells, enchant items and get better prices and anything else that uses some kind of "roll".

Answer to question two.

I'm not that sure but the best bet is to just make new saves each time and go back and delete when you amass too many. This way you can go back if you screw up or your game corrupts.

Though the best game of Morrowind is with expansions and mods on the computer.

PS: The semi-magical edit button means you don't have to make a new post every time. It's quicker too.

I'd just like to confirm that luck is a good attribute. The only problem is that there is no way to increase the amount of points you can raise it each level. AKA I'd start right right away or perhaps even take it as a primary attribute. Since you need to get endurance early as well, this leaves you only 1 other attribute to work on at the start.
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

Slightly OT, luck is important in Morrowind, but it's even more importan in Oblivion where it has a major impact on everything, including how much mana it costs to cast spells.

Good point. I have been playing more of Oblivion recently so I'm a bit out of touch on how much of an effect it has in Morrowind. I only see Morrowind through the CS these days. Such is the curse of a modder.
