What is your favourite movie soundtrack? Mine would have to be Star Wars. Not just the main theme (though it is still great), but other stuff like the Imperial theme, and the Duel of Fates.

-I have forgotten the name of the film, but it has james Spader in it, and they used the same peice of music throughout the whole thing, it was just so brilliant, really haunting
-Blade Runner
-The Big Lebowski
-LA Confidential
There are of course more, but those are the few off the top of my head

The Big Country. The soundtrack's by Jerome Moross, who kept missing out for twenty years while all the soundtracks were done for Hollywood films by German immigrants. Finally, he got a shot at one, and instantly won an Academy for it. And it's a knockout.

I seldom remember soundtracks, most of them seem dull to my ears, but a few I like:
2001 - The opening from R Strauss "Also sprach Zaratustra" is great in this context, as is J Strauss "An die schoenen..." even though I don't like Vienna waltzes normally. Lygeti's music is also great in the context.
Henry V - Patric Doyle is such a nice composer
This movie about the glamrock era, with Christian Bale and Ewan McGregor, I don't remember the title, but they had picked much of the best music from era.

Gosh, this is gonna take awhile.

I guess I’ll list the movies by their composers.
Danny Elfman (wonderful at writing creepy music. Collaborates with Tim Burton often)
Batman
Edward Scissor Hands
Sleepy Hollow
The Simpsons
Jerry Goldsmith (great at adventurous scores)
Dragonheart
Congo
The Mummy
Star Trek: First Contact
James Horner (excellent at sweeping emotional pieces)
Braveheart
Glory
Titanic
Willow
Trevor Jones (I love ‘The Courier’ sequence from Mohicans)
Last of the Mohicans
Merlin
Alan Menken (the dude who brings you those beautiful Disney scores)
Aladdin
Beauty and the Beast
Hercules
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Little Mermaid
Pocahontas
Alan Silvestri (what can I say? I like his stuff.

)
Back to the Future
John Williams (the Master. Tends to work with Spielberg and Lucas.)
E.T.
Indiana Jones Trilogy
Jaws
Schindler’s List
Saving Private Ryan
Star Wars Trilogy
Hans Zimmer (has no peer when it comes to hard-hitting dramatic music)
Crimson Tide
Gladiator
Lion King
Prince of Egypt
The Rock
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll think of some more later.

@Kayless

A second vote for Lion King

The African influence is very moving
I have another Omen

Carl Orff IIRC - Carmina Burana, very powerful stuff.
