Spam makes you live longer

The Japanese government claims the people of Okinawa live longer than the residents of any other city in the world - thanks to their diet of stir-fried Spam.

Okinawa has more than 350 centenarians - a statistic that Japanese experts put down to their staple diet, a stir-fried dish called goya champutu which is made up of eggs, tofu, goya - and Spam.

The processed meat was brought to Okinawa by US soldiers after the Second World War. Locals took a liking to it and began mixing it into their more traditional meals, reports ABC News, www.abcnews.com.

Makoto Suzuki, director of Okinawa's longevity research centre, says collagen in the pork product may help contribute to long life spans.

"Okinawan food is very good for health. It is a kind of antioxidant diet with high amounts of vitamins," says Suzuki.

There are some delicious meals at Fable's Pancake and Spam Emporium.
The Old Weasel (best with plenty of tabasco)
New Jersey Superfund Site Roadkill Special
The Old Prospector's Wife Special
and of course, pancakes with spam

I suggest you give it a try.

The preceding was an unpaid, publically-funded advertisement for my Emporium. It should not be seen as a political endorsement, unless, of course, you'd care to make a contribution.
