OBSE Issues *sigh*

Alrighty... seeing as I more or less have my game running the way I want it to... I am slowly working through the intricacies of Wrye Bash, and I've successfully installed CoBL (Common Oblivion -- highly recommended btw)... I figured.. why not install OBSE..

Now, I am using MWSE without a problem. Since the install process for the two is identical, I'm pretty sure I have done it correctly. I have copied the needed files into my main Oblivion folder as per the instruction in the readme, and then I used the launch icon to launch the game.. Initially it all looked fine, but then once I tried to load my actual save game it crashed. I have already tested this a bit, and it works fine if I launch the game through the regular (non OBSE) launcher.
After digging around I saw some posts that suggest OBSE might conflict with UI mods. Seeing as I am using Dark Darnified UI, I'm wondering if this might be the culprit.
However, I know of people that use both, so I can't help but wonder if:
a) I'm doing something wrong
b) there is a work around that allows use with UI mods..

Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated :)

What's your mod load list, in order?

Also, I'm using the Dark DarNified UI with COBL and OBSE. No problems.

Have any of your mods replaced the .exe? I have one mod installed (removes ability/skills cap) which does so, and if I want to use OBSE I have to swap .exe's.

Which version of OBSE are you using?

Try recopying all the OBSE files into your Oblivion directory, again. (Remember, they don't go into Oblivion/Data Files.) Be sure you don't miss any. Some appear to be duplicates, but aren't. Then relaunch.

Have you got Wrye up? Did you check to see if there were any entries colored other than green under Mods?

galraen wrote:Now this is where a problem could lie in terms of colour and I can't seem to resolve it. CoBL Main is pink and so is another mod I don't have loaded. According to Wrye Bash they have the same time.
Highlight COBLMain.esm. Go to the right side under Modified, and change the time to a day earlier. Now go down that side, under File, where the Save button is highlighted. Click it, and you should see the pink color vanish. If another one comes up pink, just keep moving them until they don't share a common date.
I can try recopying everything from OBSE into my folder... Just a question, in the OBSE package there is a folder called "SRC." What is it, and what do I do with it?
The SRC stuff is the source code. You can safely place it on your wall and shoot darts at it. :)

OK, thanks Fable, my pink issue is now resolved after following your instructions. :)
But... I am still crashing when I try to load my save game using the OBSE launcher..

Here is the error message that appears in the OBSE notepad thing:
OBSE: initialize (version = 16.3 010201A0)
oblivion root = C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\
plugin directory = C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\

loading from C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\Save 97 - Anaiya - Leyawiin, Level 4, Playing Time 22.29.46.obse
HandleLoadGame: couldn't open file (C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\Save 97 - Anaiya - Leyawiin, Level 4, Playing Time 22.29.46.obse), probably doesn't exist

You don't have multiple versions, OBSE and non-OBSE, of any of those mods loaded at the same time, do you?

If not, the only other thing I can suggest is posting your mod list and problem in the ES mod forums. They've got the experts, there, people like Wrye, Arthmoor, Leandro, etc. I'll bet they can figure out in an instant what the problem is.

I'm certain I don't... I'm always very careful to ensure that I only have the relevant mod version loaded. I have actually been very slow in installing my mods this time around, and so far I haven't even went near anything that requires OBSE...

I'm stumped, because according to the Wrye help pages everything should be working just fine. Thanks to you, my entire mod list is a nice healthy green and my saves are purple... so there shouldn't be any issues.

I'm also wondering if my LOD replacer could be causing the problem??? Though those are just textures, so I don't see why it would..

Ah well, a bit later on I'll see about braving the ES forums, thanks ;)

I'm not into LOD replacers, so I can't help you, there. Hopefully, the ES OBSE Squad will come to the rescue. They're not bad folk. Just don't feed them after midnight.
