Worm King glitch for 360?

I know I did everything right but when I get to the dude and try to attack him it does not let me attack...like I swing but no hit. I have the Collosal gem thing (it says it is filled) and the mage dude killeed himself and I got it off of him so what know? it auto saved when I got to the cave and I saved since then so I cant go back... any help would be awesome!
