VTMB CompMod enhances Vampires The Masquerade Bloodlines by allowing you to recruit other NPCs to join your party and travel with you throughout the game. Other party centric enhancements include:
- Ability to embrace some select NPCs later in the game.
- Ability to possess your traveling companions and use their special abilities from afar (if desired).
- Place party members around your haven in an assortment of animated poses
- Tell party members to change outfits. (supports installable outfit packs)
- Access to secondary traveling inventory through companion dialog.
The mod is approaching the end of development. This may be your last chance to be part of the Beta Tester team, so come download the latest Beta now (Version 0.4)

Beta 4 Patch 1 Available
Beta 4 Patch 1 has already been released. There was an issue with possessing generic human companions where a "Missing" model would appear when you unpossess. It was a spacing issue in my code. Some variables were in the wrong scope. Anyway, bug is fixed and patch is available at website.
Unpack patch to VTMB Base directory on top of Beta4.
Retail Typical Base Directory:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines
Steam Typical Base Directory:

on companions...
Is there any way of permanently improving a companion's stats or body armour/weapons, as it might be neat to, say, turn Heather into a pistolero type without saving/assigning points after possession.

Companion's can't die. They fall after a given number of hits. Armor doesn't even come into the equation. (This is described in the readme). Granted, I could factor armor into the number of hits, but the real issue is that there aren't models made for all the companion options that show the companions wearing armor.
While they dont have an impact on the NPC's toughness, the mod does support outfit packs and I have been told of at least 1 skin developer who is already working on a pack. So you could dress heather up to look like whatever, though her weapon may not be what you want it to be.
Changable weapons and the ability to permanently allocate experience on NPC's is something I will consider for version 2.0. The game engine is the issue here, but I could add some new dialog options so that you could choose from say... 4 to 8 popular weapons (melee/ranged). So you have a little bit more control over what your companion fights with (you would still have to own the weapon first).
Thanks for the suggestions. For the Beta and version 1.0, weapons and stats will remain static. (you can change stats, but they revert back when you unpossess).
It is hard for me to tell if the original question is user or developer centric. If you want to change companion's stats programatically, they are defined in:
Vampire/python/statutil.py

CompMod Beta v4.0 Patch 2 uploaded. - Animus Constupro no longer required for human companions. (Only required for Vampire Companions). All you need are some levels in a social discipline such as Domination, Dementation or Presence to gain human companions. Amount of level required depends on the companion.
Updates human companion dialogs in Santa Monica, Downtown LA and Hollywood. I will release another (backwards compatible) patch that includes updates for Giovanni Mansion and Chinatown within a few days.

While I'm personally more the "lone wolf" type, I can't help being impressed by your work. I think this is a very creative and original idea which has the potential to further enhance the roleplaying experience Bloodlines offers.
Keep up the great work!

Problem with getting apartment after making Heather companion...

...when I made Heather a companion, immediately after meeting her outside LaX's place, and then I got the new apartment, when I went to Skylines every time I got to my new place as soon as I used the key to go in the game crashed. Should I wait until Heather is already installed in my place before making her a companion?

Thanks Shizz
forgedude: My scripts dont do anything when you open the door, however they do things when you enter the map. I have a million questions like what OS are you on, how muh ram do you have, etc... I will play through the game up until the point you describe and see if it crashes on my computer. Had you ever asked Heather to travel with you or did you not use her as a companion? Did the game just disappear or was there a message. Did you have any other companions with you or that you had told to go to the haven? Did you follow the installation instructions and do a full uninstall before installing the mod?
If you can replicate the problem (ie : load a save game and it always crashes when you open the door), maybe you could send me the save game via transferbigfiles.com or something.
Try sending additional feedback via email to avoid bumping this thread.
Thanks

Finally got it to work...
I found that if any part of Heather is stuck around the elevator, that seems to trigger the crash. I just left her downstairs, and went up the air vent. After a few secs, she respawned in my apartment. Now I tell her to "stay and catch up later".

How do I get Yukie as a companion?
I went with her on her quest and helped her kill the Hengeyokai. But I got no additional dialogue options afterwards that would enable me to get her as a companion. Do I need to wait until after finishing the Giovanni quest for this?

CompMod Beta 4, Patch 3 released :
- Animus Constupro No longer required for human companions. This opens
up the possibility of some weaker companions earlier in the game.
- Auto-Unpossess now enforced when talking to cab driver to avoid
some potential bugs.
- Fixed vclan bug which was causing some human companions to break
during unpossess
- Updated Elevator AI so that companions disappear completely
when you are in elevators. They re-appear 15 seconds after
you exit the elevator. This helps to ensure they dont get in the
way or cause other bugs.
- Fixed bug in entity garbage cleanup routines. This should make
re-visted maps more stable.
- More AI updates. Possessed NPCs should fall (auto-teleport back to PC
body) more quickly when they take too much damage during combat.

CompMod Beta 4, Patch 4 released.
Primary change is addition of Skelter as companion option. Other minor bug fixes. See internal readme for more info. Patch 4 will not invalidate previous Beta 4.x save games.
Save game invalidation normally occures when I try to squeeze in some new feature at the last minute (embrace options). I have made up my mind that there will be no more new features going into verison 1.0. All future Beta 4 patches (and Final version 1.0 patches) will only fix minor bugs and add new dialog.
So anyone who has put off downloading the latest Beta 4 for fear that I will release something new that will require a new install in 3 days, fear not.. Moving forward, all patches and even the Final release will be compatable with Beta 4.x save games.

Patch 5
CompMod Beta 4.x Patch 5 released. Enables Ash as a companion option.
As usual, Beta 4.x patches do not invalidate previous 4.x save games.

Outfit Pack now available for testers.
For anyone interested in testing out the outfit pack feature, I just added an outfit pack for VV to the website. Give it a try and make sure it works.

Beta 4.7 uploaded. Fixed Histories being lost during possession and a minor Ash Convo glitch. This will be the last Beta release.

(I lied)
Beta 4.71 \ Patch 7.1 released.
NOTE: Avoid patch 4.7 because it had backwards compatibility issues. Use 4.71 / Patch 7.1 instead. Patch fixes possession issue with histories.
