Which method do you prefer to do away with your foes?

I use a combination of magic and hack and slash

Depends on the kind of character I'm playing, but I most frequently play stealth types so I'd have to say marksman overall (as you might already have guessed from my avatar pic).

I have a preference to stealth/magic-oriented types of characters, so I tend to go for a combination depending on what the situation calls for: short blade, bow or long-range spells.

The type of character I'm playing comes into play obviously but as my favourite type in Oblivion is a mage, then magic is my favourite tool.

I would have to say a combination myself. i like adjusting my attacking style to suit various encounters, therefore i find that some styles are better for certain situations than others.

The game really favors a combination, given the way so much you face employs melee on steroids. I tend to like magic + melee together in the characters I create, though I may change that for stealth + magic with another character.

I'd have to say my favored style's been the combo, getting what ever fight I get into turned to a coupe de' gras resolution
Hitting 'em, while physically wearing them out so that they're just standing there dazed.. then the finishing K.O. fireball in the face :devil: ...Anyother time, I'd really go entirely stealth. It just gets me in the mood

I play mainly Stealth characters who only use magic as back-up - though sometimes I play Mage types with a good dose of stealth skills.
If it's primarily stealth, then Marksman with dagger for melee, and the magic for concealment and loadbearing.
If it's Magic type, then Destruction is the main weapon, again with dagger for melee, and Illusion for concealment.

Hello, Forum!
Hm...
#00: Well, if alone, and there's no friendlies inside to worry about, nothing clears out a dungeon better, thus far, than casting "Mass Death", and then picking up the loot as you explores for the mapping's sake of it.
#01: Otherwise, I love playing sniper with my archery set!
#02: But being a martial artist in real life, I do enjoy the occasional hand to hand fights, because I can relate to them more so.
#03: Fighting with melee weaponry is fun, but not realistic enough it seems to me, in the animation department, i.e. too many glitches where the weapon passes through the NPC or vice-versa, without making contact. Other than that complaint, it could be as fun as hand-to-hand I imagine.
#04: So in summary, I guess that I'm a combo player.

I always play as a pure mage, but I tend to include Blade as a major skill, instead of restoration.
I love to trick my enemies. i usually investigate areas while casting Detect Life. Once I spot someone, I get as close as possible without revealing myself. Then I either try and sit in a dark corner or around a corner, and summon a Deadroth right in front of my un-suspecting victim (can you imagine the fright to suddenly see 200 giant fangs breathing sulphuric air into you face, and then hear a large growl?!). I then watch the fight ensue with Detect Life and listen to the their screams. I wait until they've been dispatched, or if they've just been weakened, I just finish them off with a blast of fire.
Sometimes I try something a little less sneaky, and just summon a full suit of Bound Armour and take out my longsword and Hack it out with them.
At lower levels, Command spells are easier to cast, so when I come into a room I cast the spell on one bandit and see him attack his friend full of vigor, and then just zap whoever is left.
I try to avoid using Invisibility, it feels a little bit like cheating, but I do use it occasionally by just summoning a Dremora Lord and then vanishing.
Since I use magic much more than anything else, I chose the spells option.

easily hack n slash wit a bit o magic for my main chars tht i use. i have yet to make a full on marksman or magic user, due to its a pain to deal with them, what with the constant buying of arrows or spells. plus there is a certain aspect about dealing with a foe upclose and personal tht really gets your blood running
