my comp glithes alot i just put in 256 MB of RAM and i have 350MHz. i have 6 GB but have 2GB free. my mouse jumps from one part of the screen to the next on my desktop not going smoothly. also when i play music with no other programs open my music studders. i think the music is connected to the glitching of the mouse. so is there really a virus on my comp and if so how do i get rid of it or how do i stop my comp from glitching? help would be greatly greatly appreciated. thank you.

Some questions
How long has it been doing this?
When you first started noticing the problem had you add/removed any hardware or software?
Have you opened any files with the extention .exe , .bat , .com through your email or newsgroups?
Are you the only person using the computer?
Lemme know, I might be able to offer some suggestions.
reply to my email.

The easiest way to get rid of a virus is either by using a good anti-virus program or by formatting your hard-drive.
I would personally go for number 1, but I take it that you don't have a anti-virus software package.
I am not sure on the following but you might be able to go the website of Norton anti virus or MAccafee anti-virus and check whether you can find your symptoms. (Can anyone verify this??)
Equally important is that you find out how you got the virus, if it is indeed a virus. You want to make sure that you don't get infected again in the future.

From past experience I can say you probably are leaving your computer running too long...

With reference to Sandy's above post, your computer probably is overheating. At the most try to leave it running for a max of 3 hours. If your fan system is good even better. Don't leave it on overnight, that'll make it worse. Overheating also causes future problems. Open your machine and look for scorch marks. If there are any, then get a new fan.

I'd rather ask if you have opened .vbs or .eml files over the email

Clearly, WEASEL has sent you a virus. The best cure is to mix a quart of British beer, three dead flies & a shot of Bailey's, pour it over you computer and let it dry. Then ask Minerva to come over and recite the ancient cants & spells of her race.
