Smiley the Trapper

I've rescued Smiley from the Toxic Caves, but the next time I see him at Bruckner's and try to talk to him to learn Gekko skinning, he attacks me ???
Anyone know WHY ?

Have you by any chance shot anyone in Klamath?
What's your karma, and have you any special karma tags like "Child Killer"?
All of the above are the common reasons why such thing would happen. Also, if none is true in your case, then you are probably encountering bug. What version are you playing?
