Killed Shuyler and sons before getting reciept

I killed the 3 wizards underground before getting the info I just spead through the dialogue because ive done it before and i thought i got the info from them but it turns out i didnt. now all my saved files are after killing them. the quest that sez i have to find who the ring belonged to is still not crossed out. when i ask virgil what to do next he sez to visit schuler and sons but i've already done that. do i need to start the game over?!?!
do i need this info from them specifically or can i get it somewhere else?
