And if so, where? What qualities about that game drew your attention, and what do you enjoy especially about it? Assuming you want it known, what character do you play in that multiplayer game, and what are they like?

Do you mean BG2 online or something long the line sof MMORPG something - i don't remember the way it is written.
I don't play on line as i don't have the time and the net is expensive here.
Plus the Big online RPGs charge money and i don't have a credit card to pay for it.

Fable: Does EverQuest count? I bought the game (my first computer game after Civ) because it had a picture of a woman on it. I thought it therefore was probably played by other woman. My first character was a high elf just like the picture on the box
It also looked non-evil (The cover of Diablo scared me), which was why I chose it. Now I am enlightened and do not judge computer games by their covers

I have not.

My first time will be NWN.
(The only game I've played on-line was AoE...needless to say..a fast connection is advised.)

Certainly, O @Viv, Everquest is an excellent example of an MMMMMORC. A lot of people play it for hours on end, even days.
I used to be quite addicted to Gemstone III, a great text-based online multiplayer yada that existed for years before the graphical online ones came out. Of course, at the time, there were no more than 100 people in on a busy night, and the last time I checked (which was about a year ago, chiefly for old time's sake) there were roughly 2,200. It was a madhouse.
Anyone else? Any MMORC?

I've played Diablo 2 online but that probably doesn't count. I usually multiplayer games of any kind with my partner every night. We had/will have two computers linked with a LAn. Does that count?

I've played UO and D2, if that one counts. UO was cool, until they messed up pvp.

I like to play this one text-based online game - it's called "Gamebanshee". The trick is you have to play OTHER games so that you can play Gamebanshee, and also read books, watch movies, pay attention to politics and sports, and develop interpersonal skills. The thing is right now it seems like they're trying to turn it into some wargame with some silly struggle between two factions - oh well i'm sure it'll work itself out
BTW the above was not spam!
I am also really looking forward to NWN, I've now bought all the 3e books and finds myself carrying them around in a backpack, checking rules and trying to remember what feats are prerequisites - really takes me back to 8th grade

No MMORPG for me.
I've thought about Dark Ages of Camalot some, but have decided to wait for NwN before gaming RPG online.
Of course it is not MMORPG, but it is more MORPG

Diablo2. I play as a Paladin while my highschool buddy from way back plays the Necromancer. I'm in Bangkok. He's in Moscow.
We scheduled our games during the "unholy hours" to avail of the lower rates as we ended up using our mobile phones now and then for immediate communication. Sometimes our ISPs would "conk out" or the pc would hang. Sadly, such a novelty "trip" for us is kinda expensive.
Diablo2 then was the coolest... till BG2 came along.
Yeah, I can't wait to play NWN!
LAN games are very popular here like CounterStrike and Half-Life but of course they are not under RPGs.
More often, problem is setting a complementing sked with my friends since all of us are working and and are in different time zones at that.

@Maharlika, I'm thinking more along the lines of a full environment online game (well, that's what they call 'em, at any rate) rather than a quest-oriented Diablo-esque game. EverQuest, Asheron's Call, UO, etc.
It's interesting how few GB folks actually play these online. I suspect (without admittedly any proof) that it's because we get enough sense of community out of SYM without having to go to some pseudo-medieval online Disneyland for that purpose.

ROFL
Sounds like a great game - where can I get it?
Sorry Fable
I might add: Back in the monolithic days, I played this turned based on-line game at a BBS. During your turn, you had a limited number of actions you could carry out - I think you could make max 3 challenges of other players, you could buy equipment and solve some quests. It had a new "turn" once per day, so you didn't necessarily interact in real time with the other players. Does that count?
I quit playing this game because the guy who had the BBS got mad at me for killing his character

Sure does. Some of those turn-based multiplayer text games still exist, as do the text-based realtime ones like Simutronics'. But I have a distinct feeling their days are numbered. A shame, in a way, since the best graphics of all are the ones you create in your own mind, after reading a few words.

I'm curious about DAoC--Gamespot gave it a rave review, and they've been pretty tough in their reviews lately, so that means something. However, I'm holding back to see what BG players have to say about it here--the DAoC board is very quiet. What does that mean? Either people here are not playing it, or they are too obsessed to come to gamebanshee.
As far as MMORPG's go, I've been a little turned off to MMO games from playing AoE online. Too many power players who wipe me out in 30 seconds. My brother's one of 'em--he likes to invite me to play, annihilate me, and the pm me that I suck. LOL It sounds like DAoC has tried to balance the game better and keep people from camping. I dunno, what do you all think?
