Retention of Knowledge

i am really annoied that i can remember really strange things. I'll give you an example:
Me and my boss were going through some Russian sites looking for some

background images and we fall upon a picture, i immediately say " that is Species (the film)" and then i try to remember the name of hte actress......"ah yes Natasha Henstridge.
Now why in the world do i know that, she isn't really that famous. Most people wouldn't know who she is.
Does anyone else have any knowledge that they can't get rid of?

My problem is, I can't keep any knowledge.

I have a problem like yours with films....it could seem incredible, but if i watch a film i remember almost every single scene and dialogue so in future, when i watch it again, i always remember all the dialogues and so on...not a good thing. I have a really good memory, but i'd prefer having this "ability" for other things.....like my job!!!!!!!

The weird thing is when one starts applying HTML to word docs you are writing in an effort wo embolden certain words...

I also have a lot of knowlegde I can't get rid of, not nessacery something I'm interested in but often. And sometimes I can't remember from one day to the next.
(I can also remember Henstrigde in speicies - eventhough I haven't seen the movie

)
But for instance I can remember that the first James Bond movie I've ever seen was "You Only Live Twice", and I saw it when I was around 5 years old.
I could continue like this for a long time - I hope that I someday find a way to purge my mind of useless information

In other words, Mr Sleep, your cranial capacity is a veritable cornucopia of useless information? Mine too.
I couldn't tell you what I had for breakfast yesterday. I can't remember what it is I told everyone I'd do for a work deadline this week. It takes me maximum effort to do simple reminder tasks like posting letters.
On the other hand, I can remember where all the secret rooms and magic weapons are in "Eye of the Beholder" for the Amiga. I can tell what an episode of the Simpsons is from the couch sequence or the first lines of dialogue and constantly iritate my friends with random quotes from the series (there isn't an experience in today's life that hasn't been covered

). I know the exact sequence of events of the Battles of Gettysburg and Waterloo better than the people who actually fought there.
In short, my mind is full of cr*p. But I think it is a sign of genius.

Weasel, on the other hand, is a dunce.

I remember a scene from Red Dwarf.
"4 up and 6 to play this guy is hot hot hot!"

My lack of knowledge hinders my reply to this.

Agreed - it must be a sign of genius
I remember in highschool where I could recite almost precisly most of a (at that time) very popular danish comedy-group.
I drove my classmates completely insane

I remember quite a lot of things I saw in this forum.

So, if you want to know my useless and meaningless memory I obtained past 6 months, you should just read through the whole SYM.

My head was playing songs I had heard earlier on the radio repeatedly during my exams while I was trying to concentrate. Really annoying.

ROFL! And you can't start a new question 'till you finish the song in your head right?

Been there. Especially annoying when the song is something like 10 minutes long!!

Yikes! My short term memory still hasn't recovered from all the abuse I dealt it 25 years ago! But I remember the movie that made Natahsa Kinski famous! ('Cat People').
And I have a hard time forgetting Natasha Henstridge for the same reason I have a hard time forgetting Natasha Kinski - they're both major babes!!

I suppose that is true, but at no point were either of them a possibility for the likes of us

@Brink: that's the problem...expecially because you don't remember important things when you need them!!!!! and the more you try to remember the less you are able to!!!

Do you think there is some kind of connection, seeing as all of use seem to have this problem..... i think it is the genius thing myself, opinions?
