Why do nice guys finish last?

Well it is a proven scientific fact, studies show that women will go for the bad guy rather then the good guy. For all the talk about saying that they want someone who is nice and sensitive, and understands them, but who they really want are the bad guys, the A-holes, it is curious, why do you think that is? Is it that primal instinct to copulate with a manly man or what? Any thoughts fellow members, what do the women here think that is?

Hey did anyone see the simpsons last week where Mr. Burns was dating, but then the girl left him for Snake (the criminal guy), and then Mr. Burns was like "so she like the bad boys, eh? Well I'm bad...I'm positively diabolical."
Also want to reference the classic "George Costanza: Bad Boy" episode of Seinfeld.
All i can say is, women like bad boys, and as a man, I like bad girls!

I heard it was a proven scientific fact that anybody who believed this particular scientific fact had green hair growing in their nostrils.

What exactly are a "Bad" or a "Good" guy? i have never seen this defined in a good way... still ive heard alot of people(usally males who think they are "Good") talk about how "Bad" guys got to have all the fun...
Also have i noticed that woman (and men) in general are a rather diverse group

can sumone enlighten me (us)? I have heard this to many times and would like to know what "good" and "bad" are....mostly so i know how to classify myself

As a girl who beleives strongly in romance and all that, I think it is the "forbidden fruit" aspect. The "bad boy" is, supposedly, the guy that is dangerous to be with; whereas, the "good boy" is considered the "safe choice."
An example is the Relena/Heero "romance" in the beginning part of Gundam Wing. Relena pursues Heero
because she knows he's dangerous. She's a "good girl" and, thus, the danger attracts her. (Luckily she realized her mistake and gave up on Heero and went with Dorothy instead.
)

Well from my personal experience in this - it sux that women want "danger" like this.
In aspects concerning the heart (that was neutral said
) I've alwasy concidered myself a "nice guy" (in all other aspect of life, I'm properly not
) and I've tried to loose a girl to her ex-boyfriend whom pysically abused her, you know, bounced her around a bit - and I must say I just don't understand them.

good = safe
bad = dangerous
not sure what it means still...maybe i'm just dense and won't eva get it...heh
now safe meaning....he won't cheat on you, he won't hit you, he won't leave you, he will always love you....is that what i am to understand safe means?
dangerous being just the opposite....
I really need to know...see i'm getting old and need a female companion....so am I safe or dangerous...and which is more desirable??
really I don't need to know...I all ready have the awnsers
yet it is interesting to see what everyone else thinks....
actually i think i just confused the hell outa myself...hehe

Be a nice guy.
Would you really want to be someone who hits women, cheats on them, treats them like dirt.
If women go for that and not the nice guys, its their loss.
PS If nice guys finish last, that means bad guys come first. You're welcome to them ladies.

Or...perhaps all guys are good and some of them just change for the worse after having had contact with a woman?!
How many men here in SYM can claim that their life improved after they met a woman?
Postulate : guys are bad because their women make them look like that!

Do women REALLY want bad guys?? Come on people. Some do, some don't. I myself have always looked for a specific type of man, and it's not the bad guy type. The man who can fix my computer is the man for me.
Is it the woman's fault that she ends up with a bad guy? Yes. Are there extenuating circumstances, YES.
Two female friends and I (we've dubbed ourselves 'Charlies Angels because of the hair color) like to go out every now and then
Two of us are actively seeking men, specifically nice guys. When we go out, what type of man buys drinks, chats us up, squeezes in on the dance floor??
Usually he's got a girlfriend (But won't share this until AFTER he's been making out with Kara for half the night!
)
Or we've had the whole party boy, doesn't want to settle down type. But you know, he doesn't TELL a woman that right away, he's awfully charming at first...
The winner was the cross dressing man with a prison record at a halloween party...

I don't understand your question? What are you trying to say? Clubs, cafe's, even bookstores, *shrug* we go to all sorts of places where there are men
