Web page building

I need some advice for web page building. I'm helping this really cute girl in my class with an HTML course, but I'm not quite sure who to go with. Angelfire and Geocities both offer free hosting, but as far as I know, they don't provide a method of simply entering plain-text HTML; they both want me to use some crappy built-in page designer. Anyone know of a decent site that offers free hosting, but without all the damned bells and whistles that nobody wants? I'd be much obliged.

Geocities does , but you have to goto the Advanced HTML section.
E-mail me and I will send you a zip of 7 or 8 free sites. (At least as free as it gets)

They nearly always want you to put banners on your sites, unfortuantely there is no such thing as free.
BTW i hard code web sites any questions, just ask.

See: Free Web Space. They offer a great listing of all free web space out there.
Personally I like Brinkster.
If you need help, like Mr. Sleep, I hard code pages as well.
