Problems with audio.

After finally trying this game out, I am encountering some problems with the audio, at least I think they are problems. When I talk to certain characters, subtitles appear but there is no voice, same happens when I talk to others and there are no subtitles. I'm unsure as to whether or not they are supposed to be voiced or not, so if someone could tell me whether or not I have a problem and if I do, how I can fix it.

One example of this that I had was when I was talking to Gimble. His mouth always stay shut, but the face expressions kept changing.

It seems that I have encountered one problem, so instead of making a new thread, I'll just post it here.

I just completed the "Thinned Blood" and "Jumpin' the Bail" quests and when I try to leave Kilpatrick's Bail Bonds, I see the loading screen, and when the bar gets to full, my computer restarts. I have tried to go to an earlier save, at the diner, but the same thing happens when I try to leave the area.

I'm currently running patch v1.2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your second problem sounds like your Santa Monica outdoors map is corrupt... try re-installing the game? (I think it keeps your saved games)

I'm not the most technically minded person so I'm only guessing here, but it's got to be worth a try if it's stopping you from playing the game at all :)

Yeah, I'll try doing that if no other suggestions come up. I would just like to avoid it.

What would cause it to become corrupt?

General hard-drive use can cause files to become corrupt, though it's very rare. Or if your computer crashed while writing to a file... I don't really know.

I found I had a lot of problems with my copy of VtM:B before because I had set Steam to automatically update it, but then I installed an unofficial patch. Steam then tried to "restore" my game to it's previous state, but it only got half way, leaving me with a half-patched game, which of course caused problems.

I doubt that's what's happening for you, but it's again a possibility.

Sorry I could be much help - I'm sure some of the other guys on the forum will have a better idea of what's going on than I do :)
