A few fantasy series

I know i've posted a few semi-related threads on this subject, but his is a different question.
I've just finished reading "Sea of swords",
oh ,um just in case you don't know: fourth book in the "paths of Darkness" series (quintet), fourtinth and so far last book in the Icwindale/Drizzt Dou'rden/Wulfgar/ Entreri series(I'm not sure about the official title) by R.A Salvatore.
This was the best series I've ever read, containing the best fantasy books I've ever read.
Salvatore is a genius.
Despite what a lot of people think, IMHO
it is better (not by far, but still) than Lord of the rings and the hobbit simply because of the best literary Character (again only IMO) of all time:Artemis Entreri.
I love Entreri because of the cunning and brilliant ways he goes about his plans. He bring to mind the works of the great Hannibal Lecter(Of Silence of the Lambs fame)
.
Any way on to the questions:
A.I've finished the first book in the first Dragon Lance series,(Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman) and I am deeply unimpressed with the book
. Does it get better? is it worth it to continue reading? or should I just give up and go to another series?
B.Is the Clerics Quintet worth reading? I've heard it wasn't so great.
Any answer would be appritiated.
