Help My oblivion freeze on menu

Ok, so i have oblivion i install it normally, patch it and when i start it its fine. When I am in the menu and press new game i have the menu of yes or no then i press yes and after it just freeze there with the menu in the back... i can alt-tab-del out of it. I tried the unpatched version aswell and it did the same thing.
I'm pretty sure it's not because my computer is old because it's not

4gig ram
8800gt nvidia
Vista ultimate 32bit
sorry for my english, i have also reinstalled it with the patch several time.
Drivers are up to date.
