Glad I'm not the only one stuck in that position for that riddle.
Mine's solved btw. Well done dj & TAO
Two fathers and two sons went fishing one day. They were there the whole day and only caught 3 fish. One father said, that is enough for all of us , we will have one each.
How can this be possible?

Ravager's riddle:
Because one of the three guys is both father and son. He is the father of the youngest one, and the son of the oldest one. So the old one is the first father, and the young one the first son. Then the guy in the middle is both the second son (of the old man), as the second father (of the youngest guy)
Another guess for the hat riddle:
Perhaps it's something along the lines: the other two sages are thinking the excact same thing as the first sage, meaning, that they both see two blue hats and wonder if their hat it blue (three blue hats) or white (two blue hats, one white hat). In that case, the first sage is wearing a blue hat, since they all see two blue hats on the heads of the others.
Hmmm... That would make the test a bit stupid, though, since it would be rather a question of sheer luck than wisdom, since they can't tell what the other persons are thinking. The test would then be rather suitable for mages then for sages...

No, that's not it. Can't really give you more clues. It'll be far too obvious.
