**totes in a case of beer for T'l and Gwally. Sorry about the cats last night. They held off Oklahoma pretty well but the Sooners pool of athletes is really incredible. They possess an ability to surge so fast. I think during 3 different two minute stretches, it appeared oklahoma rattled off 8-10 points in each. That's tough to keep up with even if Arizona went one six minute stretch holding them to zero FG's.
The game got almost no TV time here, so I was running CBS's Internet update. The ticker just seemed to show Arizona lost a lot of steam in the final ten minutes.
Anyway, to stay on track. Thantor has emailed me back and we've been developing some stuff that will add some drama to things and allow everyone to get to know Flanders. Some of the stuff may even assist in drawing up larger plot lines down the road. I'm working on more of our chat and will post today/tomorrow just to keep up. Can be edited as needed.

Harry immediately clapped his hands to his ears as Ysh started shrillly(sp?) shrieking in drunken excitement when she recongised Imoen and everyone in the room looked slightly uncomfortable.

I was struggling for a name and since I just watched the holy grail recently (which I something I've been able to say accurately for almost 18 years now running) it just seemed to fit. It was either that or I was going to make the first vampire be a male named Roger the shrubber.
I'm glad you guys/gals liked the tale. Thantor agreed everyone would get a kick out of the high COMM bit.
@Ysh,
the case of beer for T'l and Gwally way sympathy spirits because their state college basketball team dropped a big game last night. You were merely first in line for the party brew before I arrived with the truck.

It's here now. I'll have one you, I'm parched from all that writing.

Ned: Nice post. Very funny in all the right places. COMM might be overdoing it a bit, though....

So this is what I’m thinking. I’ve got a plan for the Dusk Ritual battle, at least in terms of what monsters will attack our characters. T’lainya helped me with the details. But, of course, I hope it will be a surprise.

I figure it to be a rooftop battle, and everyone is invited. Even if your character is not currently in the kitchen or on the roof of the tower, (Obsidian, Maharlika, Gandalfgal) he should be able to hear the sounds of battle and come running if you want.
Now, I was trying to think. How would a bunch of adventurers prepare for a battle against unknown foes? I mean, when I play BG, I usually know what sort of battle is coming up (unless its my first time through, then its just a matter of reloading if I die, and preparing better). But in the story, there is no reload option for the characters. What would they do? I tried to drop some hints about this in the story to start a dialog.
So I’m just writing some late night musings. Note that this battle will probably last several days of writing time, due to the frequency of postings and that I would like everyone to get a chance to write. I hope this works out, it could be quite fun!
I think I’m rambling. Time to hit the hay.

Gwally,
Point taken about knowing the upcoming battles in BG and being able to prepare aptly. However, you've already been through two battles of the ritual and can gauge your enemies as such. If difficulty is increasing, a lot of magic and special abilities should be expected so buffing up before the ritual should be expected. The question is, are you moving on immediately after the battle or are going to the group time to rest and recuperate.
If you're moving on immediately, then battle prep would dictate a variety of protections and then, when the enemies surface, you play the battle to those characters best prepared for the situation while protecting those vulnerable; get them some space so they might have a round or two to cast/ingest/don something that might give them an edge. Aegis and Mysteria would be best served with potions of invisibility. They probably steer clear of the crux of the battle but if anything gets too close, they need an easy out. etc. etc. etc.
If your going to rest after the dusk ritual, go for broke. Spare no expense, so the party is best prepared.
I already stated Flanders would be away from the main action throughout the dusk rituals and what ensues. Thantor needs to get back to the group and discuss his conversation, even if it is brief. The groups' matters certainly outweigh the concerns of a newcomer, however, their disussion may have left Thantor a little suspicious. Either way, I think it's important and realistic if he is to partake in the ritual, that he should make it back to the keep and questions should be directed at him. Just my two cents there.

@Ned: I so I was right
@Gwally: My preparations for battle are easy. I'll just target/whack whatever presents itself, depending on how close it is, and try not to hit you all with any magic.
