You'd be surprised at the number of bisexual women here in Australia who just love that sort of thing... ;) :D

Good; Do stuff to help others.
Neutral; do stuff that suits your self
Evil; Do stuff selfishly for your self.

A good boy scout walks the old lady across the road and walks back

Neutral boy scout crosses the road with the lady because theres a burgerking there.

The evil boy scout crosses the road, no helping the old lady.

Chotic, rushes across.

Neutral Does what seems right, and goes across the road, waiting for a good time, not the perfect one.

Lawful, waits for the crossing or the green man.

Still a little oversimplified, IMO.
But then that's the D&D alignment system for you...

Let me try to get a more non-simplified answer:

LG - Tries to do what is best for society (and mankind in general) by upholding the law
Example - A city guard

NG - Tries to do whatever is best for society, nomatter if it's consists of upholding the law or braking it

CG - Tries to do whatever is best for society, without upholding the law and order
Example - A Robin Hood type of person, or a rebel who believes that the country would be a better place if the government was taken down.

LN - Tries to uphold law and order no matter what. It doesn't matter if it's a tyranny or a democrasy.
Example - A soldier who never questions his orders.

TN - Someone who believes that everything should be in balance. Too much order, chaos, good or evil is dangerous.

CN - Someone who is not concerened about good or evil and most of his choices are based on randomness rather than sound judgment
Example - a madman.

LE - Someone who believes exploiting others should be made through the government or some other order.
Example - a member of a highly organised thieves guild

NE - Someone who seeks personal gain in all ways. He might ophold his word for years, just to betray you when the time seems right.

CE - Someone who seeks personal gain through chaos.
Example - a thug
