Either you're very good or these riddles are very bad....
I am the owner of a pet store. If I put in one canary per cage, I have one bird too many. If I put in two canaries per cage, I have one cage too many. How many cages and canaries do I have?
Still two unanswered riddles on the previous page for anyone who doesn't already know the answer.

I am slim and tall,
Many find me desirable and appealing.
They touch me and I give a false good feeling.
Once I shine in splendor,
But only once and then no more.
For many I am "to die for".
What am I?[/QUOTE]
Cigarette?

Ravager, my answer was correct thank you very much.
4 Canaries and 3 Cages.
That would mean there are the three cages with canaries, then one left over.
Then it would be 2, 2, which is two cages, and there is one cage left over.
If this is wrong, please explain why, because it looks right to me.

Tsk. I'm getting confused. Sorry dj, that was the correct answer.
After teaching his class all about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9 and so on) the teacher asked his class to draw a single continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation the teacher made was that the pen could not be lifted from the paper until the line was complete.

Oh, I accept your humble apology. There is no need for you to be on your hands and knees begging my forgiveness, I've already given it

(that's for telling me I'm wrong

)
How about the line is an S.

I don't beg for forgiveness!
Your answer was in the format 'Canaries + Cages' and mine was in 'Cages + Canaries'. I checked your answer a few times and it still looked wrong to me, even though it wasn't

.
It was fun saying you were wrong at least
Correct on the Roman numeral riddle
Two convicts are locked in a cell. There is an unbarred window high up in the cell. No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape. They then decide to tunnel out. However, they give up with the tunneling because it will take too long. Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell. What is his plan?

Enjoy it, it's the only one you'll get to say again

.
They dig the hole to make a mound of dirt to stand on. If really required, they put the dirt on the bed etc. The main point is standing on a mound.
