I have a strange fear. My d/h tried to get me to bungee jump once and just the idea of free-fall almost stopped my heart. Yet I have parascended with no problems - it is not the going up but the coming down - fast!
It is funny because I am not afraid of heights at all, just afraid of falling (!)
The weirdest thing that scares me though (and is related but I do not know why) is if I am standing on the edge of something really high I get the urge to jump
This contradicts my fear of falling. Maybe I should fear myself....
Is there a latin word for fear of one's own possible impulses?

This would definitely summarise me!

@DP - doubtful
Three of my sisters and one of my brothers did a parachute jump for cancer research. I contented myself by sponsoring them all £30 each and buying the coffees!
The irony of it was for one of my sisters it was her first time up in an aircraft! The first time she ever flew she jumped out

They had bungee jumping at the festival I went to, it cost £40 but you could do it free if you did it either topless for the ladies or totally naked for the guys...
(No, I didn't...

I'm not afraid of falling; it's the sudden stop that scares me.

Exactly!!! - I would be dead on arrival!
@Georgi and SS - LMAO!!
£40 for heart failure?
Unfortunately I do not think beyond the falling!

The splat would be preferable - at least I would be on solid ground! and dead before I get there!

I was reading an onlline psychological study, it asked whether you would run through a mall naked or sit in a very cramped box, i know which one i would choose.

But just consider the position of the straps... That's gotta be painful for a guy. Not to mention the risk of some weird form of whiplash...
