LOL How horribly true.
If it was another year for record passes then something fishy is going on, my year had that too. (Which then raised the result you needed to get into courses...

Yes, and the interesting thing is that
Wales was the region with the highest percent passes...hmmm....

Hmmm - haven't seen this thread, so my post is kinda late.
Got the grades for my first year at this new education(college equvialent) computer sience, and must say I was surprised.
Dunno what grade system people are use to so I'll keep this simple.
Denmark uses the 13 scale ranging from:
00
03
5
6
7
8
9
10
11
13
(ranging from lowest to highest - less then 6 is fail btw)
In my project with 3 people from school we got a 9. This was kinda dissapoiting, not so much for the 9 itself, but because the girl in our group didn't deserve a 9, only reason she even passed that exame was due to the rest of the group, but c'est la vive
In System Construction (programming and building a computer system) I got a 10 and was very suprised cause I had found numerous faults in my exame
In System Analyses(sp?) (analysing a company and its wish' for computer systems) I got an 11 and was also plesent suprised, cause it was a though one, but I had a good feel towards it after I made it.
So my grade avarage for the first year was a nice 10, so that is pretty good.
Avrage in my group (my project group) was the 2 guys got 9-9.5 in average and the girl got a 7.
In my class the average was about 8 - only 1 guy got higher then me

(bummer

)
Pretty glad for my 1 year exame

Thanks everyone

...I wonder how Nippy did? Nipster, you out there?
Had the celebration to end all celebrations yesterday, now I've got the hangover to match...painkillers and caffeine help only a little
Interesting to see how the Danish system works, Xandax, is a 9 good then? Have they made it so that the highest 2/3 grades are nigh-impossible to get? (or is yours just an underachieving college - har har

9 is a bit over average.
and yes, the score gets proportionally harder to get.
To get a score of 11 for instance, you need almost 100% (something like 98-100%) correct answers and to get 13, you need to get, not only, 100% but also deliver something extraordinary so to speak. So a 13 is very very hard to achive.
Likewise to score a 6 you usually have to have 55-60% (or so) correct answers.

Interesting...to get an A (top grade) in an A-level here, you have to get 80% in combined total for the exam modules...or 480/600 since all the marks have been made to add up to 600 in every A-level.

80% would be somewhere around a 9 I would think, I've once gotten a score of 10 for an exame where I was awarded 93-98% on it. So that would make a 9 somewhere from 80-90%.
But the scores a little more individual jugde then simply adding the scores (no multiple choice tests

So part of the exam is, say based on character references from your teachers or things like that??? God help me if my exams were like that, I'd have been doomed

All my teachers hated me...for the good reason that I never did any work for them
C'mon Nippy, I see you're browsing the forum, come tell us what you got!

Hey everyone. I'm a bit depressed at the moment. In History I got a C, English a C and ICT a D. I'm annoyed about History. One bad exam dropped my grade from an A to a C so I'll retake that and my English I am just not liking at the moment. ICT we had not teacher for half the year so I'm less than impressed.
However, I passed them all so it's not as bad, but I could do a lot better...

No - not like that
But seeing as you can answer problems in different manners the people judging the exames take into account that even if your answer is wrong, you can be awarded points for the way you wanted to solved the problem or the extra things you have written in the exames.
Many exames aren't 2+2 = 4 with a double underline the facit
So the people judgeing it, has some influence into the score.
(especially with the high grades where they look beyond the percentage score to grade the exame)
It isn't enough you know the stuff, you must also be able to utilize(sp?) it beyond what you have learned.

Oh, I see...in our exams we have some which are just parroting back of facts, and others which are problem-solving like that. OK, I understand now
Nippy, it's not so bad, you got into the second year didn't you? And there's the chance of retaking those modules...I badly messed up my AS levels, but after another year of doing harder stuff they're a breeze. Don't worry about it, you've got a year to put it right. And remember to put in for retaking in January if you can...even if your college won't let you, you might be able to go over their heads straight to the exam board.

Well done, the AS levels, for when you do them, are harder IMO than the A-levels. You'll do much better next year, I'm sure
