well dooku had shorter beard and hair, that's about it... btw can yedi's decide what colour light saber they get??? i'd get black, but that would prolly be considered sinister so i'd go with yellow

Re: Possible spoiler, but only if you're deaf, dumb and blind...
I thought Lee's role wasn't prominent enough. He dosn't have too many lines, and I don't think it fits to have a 78 well known actor the aprentice of an actor in his 50's and whose acting career sums up to one part plus a couple of small ones. And Since we know very well who Darth Sidius is, the hood doesn't hide much. I thought the hood actualy made him look stupid- it looked like he pulled it over his head too much, and he has too move his head back if he wants to see anything.
A few of things I remembered:
I loved the short 'acceptance' speech Palpatine made when he was given the special powers- 'I love the republic' 'It is with great reluctance that I accept...' It was just so funny the way he said it, and even the camera angle ridiculed what he said. It was one of the few good dialoges in the movie. Along with 'Why do I get the feeling you're gonna be the death of me'?
I thought the Jedi at the end looked very stupid. It looked like a douzen guys just put together bad Star Wars costumes for the opening. They looked really fake.
I never even saw 'The fifth element', but still the chase in Curoscant looked exactly like the comercials for it.
I noticed a few times that you can tell the background is blue screen. Specificaly when Obi Wan walks on the path from which he views the conveyor belt of droids, and when Dooku flies away on the small speeder (I'm not sure about the name of it).
BTW Did anyone notice the music that John Williams used for Dooku's escape? It was the wicked which of the West's theme from 'The Wizard of Oz'!
@ Georgi: was your reply about the music just to annoy me? because everyone at the theater was humming and singing the theme before the movie started- and started clapping when the theme started, not when 'A long...'. I think they were claping more to the theme than to the words 'Star Wars'.
Since, IMO
and according to Lucas, without the music, Star Wars wouldn't be half as good as it was. Darth Vader wouldn't be as Evil, Luke wouldn't be as heroic and 'A long, Long Time Ago...' would just be a stupid intro to give you information.

Looks like it's red for me then.
BTW, what was the severed appendage in ANH?

Walrus dude’s arm in the Mos Eisley cantina and Obi-Wan’s head on the Death Star.

How about TPM? I'm not sure that 'appendage' is really the right term for half of Darth Maul's body.

Yeah, that one's kind of iffy (though you could make a case for it) but fortunately we also have innumerable Battle Droid mutilations to take us over the top.
Of course if we’re really playing semantics we can just call them Star Wars Mutilations/Dismemberments instead.

Just imagine what this is gonna do for his career, though. Starting off with Star Wars is enough to get anyone a dozen scripts handed to him.
Well, it worked for Mark Hamill...

Yes,
apart from that... I mean like the fact he has this big underground industrial complex where he's building an army for his master, the Dark Lord... the way he tries to get Obi-Wan to join him... etc. So I'll take that as a no, then...

No, if you actually read it you would have noticed I was saying what happened in the showing I went to. I said I was
expecting the cheering to be when the music started, for the exact reasons you say, but it wasn't.

In the crappy EU (Expanded Universe) novels the Jedi are like the Goddamned Power Rangers (I’m the Pink Saber Jedi! I’m the Yellow Saber Jedi!, ad nauseum).
Well, also according to the Expanded Universe, the Lightsabre's colour depend on the type of crystal that is used to focus the energy beam, so I guess you can have as many different colours Lightsabres as there are crystals - of course you need a certain type of crystal for it to work properly.
In the movies it’s Blue and Green for good guys, red for Sith (with special exception made for Samuel L. Jackson and his purple saber). So Jedi can choose between either Blue or Green in the canon material, and nothing else (unless you're Sam Jackson).
This is also exactly what George Lucas said in one of the On Location videos on the Star Wars site, I forgot which one it was.

and the Simpsons! He's on fire!

Hey Sabre- don't see you around here much!
Do you know of any other place from which to downlaod/view the making of movies? Since my PC always freezes at starwars.com.

I wouldn't really class those as "plot twists".
You're right; that was poor word choice on my part. Perhaps I should have said, "I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition . . . "

@Kayless:
The EU isn't all bad; some of it is very good (ie-
The Thrawn Trilogy,
Vector Prime,
Dark Empire), some of it is okay (ie-
Star by Star), and a lot of it blows (ie-
Darksaber,
Children of the Jedi,
Black Fleet Trilogy), but not everything is worthless.

Now if Lucas had been
really smart he'd have stuck to the EU lightsabre colours, and opened the way for more merchandising opportunities from spoilt little rich brats who had to have
every lightsabre color. They could have marketed them with the now classic "Collect them all!" line.
@HLD-That was my point, hence the smiley

Sorry don't know anywhere else to get them, I don't think they actually let anyone mirror those videos. You can try going to the page directly and see if it works.

The Rant (Little Children and EU lovers beware)

I’ve read some of the EU material and it’s just not my thing.
My main gripe is that the EU treats Star Wars as though it were Sci-Fi. It’s not. It’s myth set to a Sci-Fi backdrop. To me the Expanded Universe has more in common with Star Trek then the Star Wars movies in its feel (I love Trek and Sci-Fi, but Star Wars is in a whole different genre). There is also this compulsory desire to one up the movies in the EU (You have a Death Star that can blow up a planet? I have a Suncrusher that can blow up a star! Harhar!).
Not to mention all the retcons that the EU has to do in order to fit movie continuity (Storm Troopers broke up the celebration on Coruscant seen in RotJ: SE? Gimme a fricking break).
No one is ever going to convince me that Mara Jade is not a gross violation of the Sith rule of Two ("Emperor’s Hand" my ass).
And how about the fact that it’s in vogue for every Jedi to go to the Dark Side for the hell of it, then just as easily come back? That "Chosen One" Anakin must’ve been a real wuss for not doing it sooner!
And don't get me started on the whole Emperor Clone fiasco (as well as the "Colors of the Rainbow" lightsaber deal).
Rant, rant, rant. I could go on day and night but I'll stop here. Suffice to say that EU just isn’t my thing.

@Kayless:
There are many gripes to be had about the EU (most of which you listed), but I think that is to be expected when you put a bunch of spoons in the pot and start to dilute a singular vision into several (lesser) ones. The one thing that the EU has going for it over the Star Trek novels, is that there is continuity. Each Star Trek book is written in a vacuum with the only common threads between books by the same author. I like that the SW books have lots of commonality and continuting story lines. Of course, this causes lots of other problems . . .
So what do you think about the New Jedi Order and the Yuuzhan Vong?
By the way, check out Sunday's
Foxtrot.
