I could be interesting though... Remember KOTOR 2 inside the secret tomb were republic troops ask you if they should storm the mine layed bridge or not to fight the mandalorians... That could have felt important if I wasnt mostly DS and order them to charge...

There were the attacks on Dantooine and Onderan as well - I think that's what Des meant by using cutscenes to give the impression of battle.
Using 5 or 6 generic troopers in a mission could be interesting, I agree, but anymore and you really would just be playing Battlefront.

I've Been Thinking About KOTOR III
Hello All!
First I would like to say that this is my first post with Gamebanshee. I've been following your website for about a year, and have paid particular attention to all of the posts about a possible KOTOR III.
Without trying to rehash everything that has already surmised regarding this subject, I confess that like many of you I am perplexed as to why KOTOR III has not even been announced yet.
After considerable thought on the subject, I think I might have a couple of ideas. Notice I did not say they were new ideas, because it is possible that with all of the hype on this subject, someone else may have thought about these ideas first. If that is the case, then I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes.
Idea #1: Given the "highly" uneven feel of KOTOR II, I believe that a KOTOR III will be (if ever officially made) be a hybrid RPG - real-time strategy game. There are two main scenarios that I forsee.
First, the main character (neither Revan nor the Exile) could concieveably chose the path of the ligh side, and seek to rebuild the Jedi order, (where Revan and/or the Exile failed) and leads a grand army against the Sith (the true Sith that Kreia alludes to in KOTOR II).
A second scenario would involve the main character (again neither Revan nor the Exile) being one of the true Sith, and leading his/her army against Carth Onassi and the New Jedi Order to crush the rebuilt republic.
Given that we are in the midst of a technological shift in terms of next gen consoles (XBOX 360, PS3) and newer and better PC's (MS Windows Vista, DirectX 10 graphics cards) such an event like KOTOR III will not occur until these new paradigms have caught on full force.
My best guess for KOTOR III will be some time mid-late 2009. Granted that's 5 years after KOTOR II (and I do hope it won't be that long), but better late than never.
Best wishes for summer everyone.
Happy Gaming!

er... I think by "xbox 2" he meant "xbox 360", not "xbox too".

Heya!
It's hard to guess at what KotOR III would be like. Firstly, I'd love to be Revan. And if what's happened to the Ebon Hawk is a problematic question, they could change the ship. I wouldn't miss it much. Don't know about the exile or (imagine that) if you'd get to be an all-new jedi (or someone with prepositions) searching for Revan or the Exile to teach them. But that would mean you'll have to determine both Revan and Exile's gender in smartly done conversations, which is unlikely. You could meet Revan with their mask on and talking in some frightening voice! But what if they were on the Light side...?
Eek! No wonder they didn't announce the game yet! :speech:

I agree that you could have Revan and the Exile back (mostly Revan lol).
my prediction is Revan and Exile go out with party members to fight the true Sith.

My idea
I think the game should start off a few years after KOTOR2 with Atton waking up in an alleyway on a planet courisant maybe? then staggering out into the street and bumping into the new hero, in a discussion he reveals what happened in the previous games and that he started drinking after he failed to stop the exile from going to the outer rim. suddenly the city is attacked by some previously unknown force and the go stright for atton. After a brief fight atton helps you escape and takes you to a hidden jedi training facility where hes been hiding for the last few years. where you find out you can be trained in the jedi way. but after the Reven and Exile incidents they will not train you leaving oyu to learn on your own.

That could work ( maybe?

) But I really want to be Revan again so I want him back

The forces cold be there to destory all people who have come into contact with either revan or the exile. and the fact that you have to learn on your own could give you the choice to either become a non jedi or learn alternite ways of learning skills. sorry my spellings horrible.

Another idea
Prehaps we could even run into the sith/jedi who originally wrote the prophecy about the one who would bring balence to the force due to the unbalence caused by this sith war prehaps

This might solve a bit of criticism of the game and an idea WHY the game has been prolonged.

=========================================================We've been informed by a bloke down the pub, otherwise known as an anonymous source, that Lucas Arts are planning to unleash some tasty news about the next Star Wars title, at the 30th anniversary celebration event of the much loved set of movies.
The event is being held at the Los Angeles Convention centre at the end of May, where fans will be able to enjoy screenings of the movies, buy merchandise and meet some of their favourite stars. A similar event in 2005 attracted over 34,000 people, but this latest celebration is set to be the biggest Star Wars party ever.
Now, we're slightly sceptical about this, because the game in question is said to be the rumoured Knights Of The Old Republic 3, a game which recently Bioware (on their forums ) have said they are 'not currently working on'. Not only that, but why would Lucas Arts choose to release details about the game at a Star Wars party, where the majority of the attendees would surely only be interested in the Star Wars films and not a game that is based in the Star Wars Universe? Wouldn't they? However, if it is true, it would make sense - with the renewed interest of Star Wars in general around that period - to announce the title as official.
Surprisingly, our source also claims that Lucas Arts will not only be revealing details of the new game during this period, but will also be showcasing a new 1 minute trailer (now this we don't buy).
The Official Xbox Magazine has recently speculated that Knights of the Old Republic 3 will be released in 2008, but we've been told it may be ready this side of Christmas.
The only way we're going to find out for definite is to wait until May 24th to see if anything materialises. Hey, don't shoot the messenger, we hope it's true as much as you do.
We've not been able to get any official comment on the rumour at this point.

i don't care I'll keep dreaming, I must have a thing for those lost causes, as I'm on a fan-forum to make a sequel to Beyond good and Evilhttp://z6.invisionfree.com/BGE2_Revolution/index.php?act=idx
I sometimes check the Quest for more glory forums, dreaming of another instalment of the series "quest for glory", I'm here, I also dare to call myself a browncoat as a great fan of the firefly series and the subsequent movie that was made thanks to the fans.(success story there)
so saying bored of dreaming about KoTOR III? not in a million years.
I'm a dreamer, the most dangerous of persons.

i like all the ideas coming in but one thing i would love to see is a mulitplayer mode where you can fight your characters, to see who truly is the stongest or best fighter..

what I would like to see is different races!!! there is a good amount, but the first 2 kotors are the same. I want to see Yuuzhan Vong
Star Wars: Databank | Yuuzhan Vong
also character setup was basically the same as well!
Exile-Revan(main characters)
Kreia-Bastilla(mentors)
Atton-Carth(pilots)
Canderous-Mandalore(same person)
T3-T3(same)
Hk-Hk(same)
Zallbarr-Hanharr(both Kashyyk exiles)
Mission-Mira(both scoundrels)
Juhani-Visas(both dark jedi, sort of)

My kotor 3
It would start out with an epic start screen about revan going into the unknown and finding his "ennimies", then it would flash something stupid like "3 years later"
u would see him flying back in a bizzare looking ship and he would land on coursant ( where ever the jedi's were).
He would look ragged and injured. The jedi's would attack and he would beat them senseless without killing them all the way into the counsel room. He would tell the counsel of what he say and they should prepare. YOur character would be right outside the door listening to the conversation when the mace windu equivelent of the councel jumps up and cuts revan in half for his crimes against the republic.
you would get control of a young padawan and would have to work through challenges to become a jedi. As u finished u would collapse and see a vision of masked invaders setting fire to a distant outer rim would. You would report what u saw to the councel and from there u would go. They would tell you to take an advisor and from there travel to telos and get on the soujurn. It would turn out that the advisor is Bastilla and she saw the vision u saw. From there the story continues and develops until it turns into open war with this new race which turn out to be massassi (sith folks slavies) and the bad old sith are there too
