Yashania that was a flight from Boston. Looks like according to the news that there is one plane still flying around. I am sure not for long I hope it is not highjacked.

It certainly looks like terrorist attacks, since there's a simultaneus coordination of 4 planes and a car bomb. But we shouldn't jump to immature assumptions yet - especially not about responsible groups or nations.
BBC have unconfirmed news that most people in the World Trade centre managed to leave the buildings before they collapsed.

@The Fallen One, another report stated a plane was heading towards Washington.
Very soon after the Towers were hit, the nearby airports grounded all planes...
In the UK, all airports have upped security and Westminster is on amber alert.
American Airlines have confirmed Flight 77 WAS hijacked with 54 passengers on board...

All residents of the Trade center who were above the level of the crash were trapped.
What worries me most is this: according to some reports, as many as 7-9 planes have been hijacked...and the west coast is, so far, unscathed.

I don't believe this.
Okay, from what I've gathered:
WTC - two planes, one in each tower, both towers later collapsed.
Pentagon - plane crash on the side, causing an explosing
A plane crash near Pittsburg (possibly unrelated, no building hit I THINK).
There are reports of another hijacked plane heading towards Washington, but no confirmation. It will most likely get shot down if it gets too close

I think NBC said that the car bomb is uncomformed...it's times like this I wish I had the Satelite hooked up to the TV in my room.

I do not know about 'most'. The reporters have interviewed survivors who dug themselves out of the basement. People were seen leaping from the towers.
What worries me is the obvious lack of intelligence - how could so many planes be hijacked and fly over this airspace - how is it still going on?

The one shot down in Pittsburgh was a passenger jet...
Several other plains still unnaccounted for...
All civilian planes in US are now grounded. All flights into the counrty are diverted to Canada

If you watch the news whenever there is a terrorist attack anywhere in the world, the US news comments on how unprepared the US is for this type of thing. But, how do you prepare for terrorism?
This is going to change the US...what scares me is how is it going to change the US?

i dont think the palestineans could have pulled this off.
Ben ladin? if i had been asked before it happend, if his group(s) could, i would also say no. but he seems to be the only option.
although we have to remeber the oklahoma bomber came from inside the us.
who do think was behind? who will the US hit and how? invading Afganistan to get at Ben ladin sounds impractical to me.

I don't know exactly how it's going to change the U.S., but it definatly can never be the same. I mean look at this, Trade towers collapsed, Pentagon was hit, State Dept. Building was hit White House evacuated, This is just unbeleivable. I know the first thing that crossed my mind was how could this happen, but really, like someone said earlier, how do you prevent something like this? I personally believe that there has to be a strong retaliation to this tragedy. You can't let something like this slide by. This has got to be the worst single thing to happen here since Pearl Harbor.

Security? Airport security, even following our other terrorist attacks, is not that tight. My wife and I discovered a couple of obvious holes in the checkpoints by accident when we flew to Mexico for our honeymoon.
We have checked on every flight since, and only once or twice have we found the holes plugged.
Security is too concerned with checking cel phones and laptops to notice what's right in front of its eyes!

According to the news, the car bomb at the state dept building thing didn't happen. I just heard that the fire is spreading in the Pentagon and part of the building has collapsed.
This is worse than Pearl Harbor. At least, then, we knew who had attacked.

Osama bin Laden has warned of an "unprecedented attack" on US interests three weeks ago, according to Abdel-Bari Atwan, an Arab journalist with access to the Saudi dissident. Meanwhile Abu Dhabi television said a Palestinian group claimed responsibility.
