Just make sure that your parents let you have at least one set of holidays at home before they redecorate your room, rent your room out to a boarder (this happened to me) or move to another house without telling you where they've gone (this happened to a friend of mine).

EDIT-And I'd rather watch Scayde dance than be your daddy.

When you leave home for the first time, and go to a new place ie: College, it can be intimidating and lonesome for some people. Fraternities are like a ready made peer network that help establish you socially as an "Insider" making the transition less lonely and more secure. You really are afforded a certain level of acceptance simply by being part of the group.
I know what a frat is. I just don't think they exist in Canada.

Have some problems with your own room when you went to college did you?

And besides, this wont pose a problem as I will be making a commute and living at home. :D

Not until my junior year. My mother rented out two of the rooms in her house (both my brother and I had moved out) to some of her friends who were in town for a few months to do an audit. She cut a deal with them to pay her part of their employer's food and lodging stipend in exchange for a "free" place to stay. Mom made some money on empty rooms and they got to pocket a portion of their expenses. Everyone won, except me.

While I certainly didn't have any use for my old room in Mom's house, it was odd seeing what my mother had done to my room. Almost everything that was personally identifiable as mine was gone or tucked away in a drawer. I had an apartment and wasn't planning on ever moving back with either of my parents, but after that, her house never seemed like home again.
