Avoid Victoria. The developers stuck rigidly to a series of "historical rules" they created for themselves, with the result that gameplay frequently has nothing to do with the user controls, and timed events produce bizarre results. (As I recall, Russia's population doubled in 20 years during the latter part of the 19th century--because the rest of Europe was experiencing a depression, don't you know.) And the head of the development team is a very mulish sort who sent angry letters to several magazines when their reviews pointed out his game's shortfalls. :rolleyes:

As for Napoleon's Ambition, I've yet to get it, but I'm seriously considering it.

Well i bought Victoria when it came out and did have a lot of fun with it but it is the least favourite of my PAradox games due to the micromanagement. You spend more time managing your economy than anything else ;)

The EU series and Crusader Kings are my favourites.
